GOV. JINDAL & CHARTER SCHOOLS

JagBr this particular situation is nothing new. Part of Junction City is on the Louisiana side and part on the Arkansas side. This decision was initially decided back on 1995 when my then boss/mentor Pinkie C. Wilkerson wanted to push legislators to create a school on the Louisiana side. The parents and students wanted to maintain he school the way it was because of the closeness of their relationships. So the state of Louisiana has already been paying Arkansas.

Thanks for the info!

Junction City is a tight community. People from Arkansas go to church in Louisiana vice versa. A large number of mixed raced marriages and children where one parent is from Arkansas and Louisiana. Coincidentally, GSU has a large number of students from that area because there is an agreement to waive out of state fees....

Founder the situation might not be new but the funding source is. I think the issue with this situation is that they are taking school funds mainly MFP dollars to fund this venture. Sure 100 kids will be able to attend a better school per say but what about the remaining kids that won't make the 100 list.

“There are lots of policy issues that are unanswered,” said Scott Richard, executive director of the Louisiana School Boards Association.

This statement right here spells trouble.

That's the problem right there. Back in 1995 there was one school and all the kids attended....now it's like a lottery...:shame:
