A Bethune-Cookman University instructor faces serious charges after police caught him chatting online with who he thought was a 14-year-old girl about a sexual encounter, a report shows.
Brian Jansen, 44, communicated with an undercover officer, who he thought was a 14-year-old girl, online and used a cellphone to set up a meeting where police believe he hoped to engage in sex with the minor, according to the affidavit. Jansen, who told the girl he was 38, discussed his favorite sexual positions and asked if she was interested in being with an older man.
When the undercover officer feigned concern about getting pregnant, Jansen, of Holly Hill, told her he'd had a vasectomy and would use protection, according to the affidavit. The two agreed upon a time and location.
When Jansen arrived at the location in a purple Dodge minivan, he was met by police officers, according to the affidavit.
“I knew it, I knew it. My life is over. I made a stupid decision,†Jansen spontaneously said to officers after he was taken into custody, according to the affidavit. Jansen also told officers he has successfully met and had sex with women he's met online.
He told officers if a 14-year-old girl had actually answered the door, he would be unable to have sex with her and would've walked away, according to the affidavit. Jansen also told officers he knew what he had done was wrong but couldn't help himself.
Jansen told officers he'd used his personal laptop while at work to chat with the undercover officer, according to the affidavit. He told police he's currently an athletics professor at B-CU, where he's worked for many years.
