2013 SWAC signing day SCG predictions

Re: 2013 SWAC signing day SCG predeitions

Tweed. Leave him be. He thinks Odums did not learn anything under Shine Wyatt because BCU was 17-14 during the 3 (05-08) years he was there. Although Shine is the reason why BCU is successful right now. He turned them from nothing to be MEAC Champs. Just got stubborn his last 3 years with that Wyatt Bone and not having a QB to run that offense. Brian Jenkins didn't inherit a bad program like Shine did.

He also discounts his stint at Ga Southern where they won a National title as he was the LB coach and DEs Coach. I guess because he left Ga Southern and went with GSU legend Tracy Ham to join him at Clark Atlanta when they hired Ham as head coach and Odums as the DC is where he has his heartburn. Maybe both were not ready for those roles just yet in the early 2000s. Ham gets fired and Worm takes over as interim before heading on to BCU the next season.

Worm is a 97 NCC grad so he was really young then. Then the whole NC A&T gig as DL coach then DC before coming to SU didn't work with Fobbs then Alonzo Lee as Head Coaches. There are a lot of assistants in HBCU land especially who have coached for some bad Head Coaches but they are good coaches themselves if given a chance. Then some of these so called good assistant coaches have left our programs and flopped as Head Coaches, because they were under a good Head Coach who won or had other assistants that made them look good. We see that happening right now. Heish was under Doug twice(Morehouse/Gram), played for Pete title teams, and was under Frazier, but yet he is 15-18 right now as the PV head coach. Heck Monte Coleman was a full time minister before getting to UAPB as an assistant and then replacing their fired Head Coach as the man later on. According to J99, you would have predicted doom for him instead of him wining the SCG. Since he didn't have the luxury of coaching under so called winners.

It is a crime Shine has not got another HC job. Some of these schools would be well advised to note how he won with fewer resources, put players in the league and has extensive relationships in FL.

Re: 2013 SWAC signing day SCG predeitions

Excellent and on-point post. And to answer the last point, I know why he became coach. An incompetent and inexperienced Broussard.

This is laughable considering who your AD is. Her experience is going to surely pay off for yall. Lol. Broussard is getting nothing but accolades across the state of La while your AD is getting yall sued and can't make a 12 game schedule.

Cliff, I have said the same thing. Don't know why he has not resurfaced. Unless he isn't interested.

Re: 2013 SWAC signing day SCG predeitions

Predictions:
Northern will be out after this year. PVU has to be the most disappointing program going into the 2014 season.
MVSU wil continue to improve and surprise. for a program that has the least in resources Morgan is doing an excellent job.
Southern will surprise under coach Odoms. Discipline, organization, and a solid coaching staff will make the difference.
A good recruiting year will also bring a smile to the Jaguar Nation.
Look for a shootout in the SWAC West.
AA&M and Alabama State will battle it out in the East.
The JSU Mafia for some reason are not satisfied with Comegy.
But then again they are not satisfied with most things.

Re: 2013 SWAC signing day SCG predeitions

JR, you're known to keep it real. It's refreshing to finally hear an SU-er admit that Mighty JSU is SU's measuring stick.

Your comprehension skills are bad Jayrob. I was merely pointing out to your fellow alum that instead of clowning SU hires while they are beating down his own school. You should be questioning your hiring practices. SU shole ain't looking towards JSU as a measuring stick. Not with all that under achievement going on there.

Re: 2013 SWAC signing day SCG predeitions

That's not really the case anymore. HBCUs are doing a much better job of bringing in athletes who are qualified. And the JUCOs are doing a better job of picking off the good ones who arent.
It still happens a lot, coaches are over signing and getting players late via spring recruiting in April and may. Some of these student athletes are qualifying late. And juco kids are completing course requirements in order to graduate. Most juco player struggle with English and math. Waiting on the online classes to be completed, etc. and juco is not the way to go, NCAA has new requirements for 2yr transfers. Try 2.5 GPA in order to be eligible div 1. For starters. Prop 48 is the best way esp if parents can afford it, especially for an in- state recruit.

Oh no sir good doc. Heish is good for PV. I wouldn't want him out. He has great understanding and lives what he preaches.

Heish is good people. Just don't know if he will deliver like Frazier.

Re: 2013 SWAC signing day SCG predeitions

Frazier struggled for 3 years also before he broke out the pen in 2007 and never looked back...no one remembers that...

PV is a unique program due to factors outside of the coach's control...you need time to deliver over there but once you figure it out, its easy to win big

Only way you can ever judge a coach at PV like a Grambling is if facilities are in place plus other resources...if anything, outside of MVSU, you lose to PV with nothing and you have something, your coach needs to be evaluated..lol

PV really need to get it together. There is NO way that PV shouldn't be a SWAC giant. PV reminds me of a real fat girl that don't want to do what is necessary to lose weight and continue to eat her way into oblivion while lying on the couch.

I wouldn't even pay attention to dude. Broussard is by far the best in the conference :) .

IMHO JR, he has already started delivering. He understands diversity and how PV direly requires it in order to compete in the future. Also, there's no such animal as a dumb mathematician :swink: so u know it's nothing but esteem and respect from this side of the keyboard for Heish.

Hate to say it, but it's true....

JR,

You are replying back to SU's No. 1 sexual intellectual (a fvcking SU know-it-all). He knows more about SU than anyone on planet earth. Ask him when he first noticed a dark skin Dancing Doll. :emlaugh:

Don't comment much, but had to say that this is the best statement/analogy ever written on here about my alma mater. Lol! I concur.

Re: 2013 SWAC signing day SCG predeitions

Panther 88.
It's good you support Coach Northern. He is good people.
But he's being paid to produce as your head football coach.
Coach Frazier started from scratch and lead the Panthers to the top of the SWAC.
Coach Northern inherited a good programm that has steadily declined under his tenure.

Coach Odoms has taken the job at SU and instilled discipline and organization.
He has hired two outstanding outsiders as assistant coaches.
He has reestablished SU's presence in Louisiana. And he has shown that he is going after
the best scholar/athelete available with the recruiting of the kid from Indiana.
He inherited a floundering program and turned it around.
Coach Northern took a program that was at the top that has languished under his leadership.

You may want to re-evaluate your head coach. he may be a good defensive coordinator but that doesn't make a good head coach.

Re: 2013 SWAC signing day SCG predeitions

Mr GoodDoc, you're right. In a normal program, the HC is being paid to deliver. PV isn't a normal "program" because PV doesn't have any "programs." PV fields sports teams yearly but it doesn't have any semblance of a program in any sport (ala mens basketball for instance lol). What Mr Frazier did was work miracles, IMHO, while using hay-rope and barbed wire to put that former fball program together. Those pieces (talented kids) literally fell into PV's lap. What Heish inherited was actually a factual truthful visible display of where the program was (is) under the former regime. IMHO, Heish has worked a few miracles already because #1, he knew he had to change the mindset of the casual PV "fans." They're a school supporting apathetic, naive, and athletically ignorant bunch (collectively). I'd doubt 80+% of them could, at this very moment, name all of PV's games last fall and how bad (guesstimatd point of margin) each game may have potentially had. :read: And #2, he demands that he and his staff support ALL PV sports teams both financially and physically, as he wants the same from them as well for the fball program. 100% of PV's fball coaches support (present tense) the alleged venture to erect a new fball stadium. Too bad 1/10 of 1% of the alumni base cannot say the same. :smh:

IMHO, also, one of the BEST moves Heish could've made was to sign up for the game vs NDSU fall 2012. For you see, PV fans (collectively) seriously don't have an iota of common athletic sense to know what REAL division-I football looks like, sounds like, hits like, runs like, supported like lol, et al. NDSU totally outclasse(s/d) PVAMU on the gridiron and in the stands as well (support wise). Also, the game vs a 3rd yr program lol in Lamar University, who also kicked PV's ass up and down the field @ will to the tune of 31-0, also showed PV fans (collectively) where the state of the program is, currently. How else can one substantiate a 3rd year program skull dragging a team whose fielded football teams for 87+ years? lol

I'm sure some "excuses" for PV's dismal performance OOC vs NDSU and Lamar University fall 2012 will ensue shortly. I just can't WAIT to hear the one stupid excuse "but NDSU was the national champion last year." :retard: If anyone EVER pretended to be competitive in anything in life, one knows that one wouldn't ever make a stupidly dumb statement like that, ever, under zero circumstances.

Re: 2013 SWAC signing day SCG predeitions

Coach Odoms has taken the job at SU and instilled discipline and organization..

He has?

He has hired two outstanding outsiders as assistant coaches.

He did? When did this happen?

And he has shown that he is going after
the best scholar/athelete available with the recruiting of the kid from Indiana.

He did all of that by recruiting one kid from Indiana?

He inherited a floundering program and turned it around..

He won the same 4 games Stump did last year - and Stump didn't benefit from playing a 1-10 Grambling team. That's a turnaround?
