Domed Stadium for JSU

Am I the only one who thinks this is a bad idea? Last I checked, our endowment was at $12M.

It's not like we have that kind of money to throw around. Why the need for a dome when the avg. temp is 70 degrees in the fall? Why the need for 50K capacity when you only avg. over 30K for two or three games out the year?

That's some serious cheese. And if you think that State of MS is gonna fund that kind of thing? C'mon now.

Dr. Meyers must've got some of that Steve Jobs' inheritence or something. I guess that explains the Apple Store. LOL.

I think you are making judgement off of limited information...this sounds pretty legit lets just see how it plays out.

How does this sound legit? Where do you see 200M in funding coming from? No legitimate source for those funds have been identified.

Let's get a turf, indoor practice field and call it a day.

easier sell as more teams will benefit and even high schools will want to come in there throughout the year....football is more of an outdoor sport to me anyway and add an indoor track and you can charge $400 a team during indoor track season

I am speaking in terms of it being on the discussion table something that I know it hasnt been for a while, I dont know how they will get the money nobody knows that not even the folks who are making decision. We cant based everything off of a 2 or 3 minute news clip and we may not need 200M it maybe less...I just know JSU is serious about making something happen sooner than later which I think is good...

BOOM!

that's what i'm on. too much excitement over a clip without any details, blueprint, development plans.

we're learning this team works in secret. we're lucky we got this spill of info when you think about it.

Up for discussion: Good. 50K Dome: BAD!

I have to agree with DMJ here. At some point we have to trust our administration. That is what they are hired for. Right now, I am thinking this $200M is not only for just a stadium but for more of a university/athletic "city" to assist with the growth of Jackson. If JSU unveiled a plan, then they might have state and local support for the idea. Who knows? .. we certainly don't. The Clarion-Ledger even reported this AM that the city did a study to say they need a 9000 seat arena and some leaders in Jackson want a 15,000 seat arena. So who knows what type of politics will be involved here to even get JSU a new $200M package.

On the surface, a dome for JSU is bad and a 50K-seat arena is bad... really bad. HOWEVER, we don't know who is designing it, how it will be used, etc. They may be able to make a lower bowl that holds 30K and the upper bowl 20K or something like that. (Not that I want that hassle either.. LOL) But I say, let's get some details before we shut it down. This may be a project that moves not only JSU, but also Jackson forward, and we ALL know that we need that.
