I root against the underdog if that team is standing in the way of me witnessing history or prevents me from watching a marquee matchup. An example of that would be the Giants ruining the Pats bid at an unbeaten season. I really wanted to see that. Or when a college basketball team upsets a high seed in the tournament. Why? Because I know that team is not going to win the championship. And then that upset means nothing.
When Butler made that run to championship game against Duke, I wanted the Bulldogs to lose because I got tired of hearing and reading them being compared to the movie Hooisers. And last year, I wanted the Broncos to lose because I got tired of people losing their minds over Tim Tebow, and folks believing God was helping the team win.
Plus, I don't like people believing in untruths such as mystique, destiny, inspiration and all this other crap that has nothing to do with why teams win or lose. These things are associated with underdogs.

It's Just Something about seeing Southern beat Jackson State University IN JACKSON for some reason. Everytime I go to the game in Jackson it never fails. Either SU wins and JSU is not happy or JSU wins barely and STILL isn't happy.

..... It's really not the school/team that I dislike. It's the fans who are annoying as hell (with the exception on a small few).
Nothing really against Dallas Cowboys, but it is funny watching their fans and those who hate them when they lose.
