They get called that because we have seen guys who look like them act it out and someone gets killed. The NBA already has an image issue, they don't need Melo trying to prove it.
Also if Melo was sop thuggish-he would not wait outside the bus where he can be stopped by cops and whoever else. He would went at him elsewhere.

Brooklyn Nets forward Andray Blatche was questioned by Philadelphia police Tuesday in connection with a sexual assault complaint at a Philadelphia hotel, two people with knowledge of the investigation told USA TODAY Sports.
They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak about an ongoing police investigation.
Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey told The New York Times: "From all accounts, he was not personally involved in any kind of assault or anything like that. ... He was there but he was not involved."
One of the people familiar with the investigation said Blatche returned to his Four Seasons suite from a strip club with two men and three women. One of the women called 911 to file a complaint, and all six were brought in for questioning. Blatche told investigators he was not involved, and two women corroborated Blatche's story. The person said Blatche is not expected to be charged, and the two other men are not members of the Nets staff.
In 2007, Blatche was charged with sexual solicitation, but the charge was dropped after Blatche completed a seminar for men caught soliciting prostitutes.

I tell them that all the time... in my home area, guys have beef with each other all week but wait to come to our establishment and fight. I told them point blank that they did it that way so someone would stop them. They realized I was serious when I told them that in addition to criminal charges for fighting, I would sue for loss of income due to them shutting the club down. One guy said, what if you don't have a job... I said it's called a "lein" on your assets like that car you have, etc! They seem to get the message - they just stay away from the club lately. GOOD!!!!
