According to Doug: DJ will start against Jackson State Saturday!

Grambling was at fault for not giving Doug menial things to keep their facilities up to par. I do not fault him for leaving and giving them enough time to get it together. Grambling was not obligated to hire Spears. It was their lazy, shiftless faults if they did not conduct a national search for the best coach at that time. How dare you blame that backwoods tomfoolery on Doug. :emlaugh: Next, you are coming ups with an alleged Doug conspiracy theory aka "plot" to run Broadway out of town? It has always amazed me how folks say things to prove a point. But you JR? :emlaugh: And why would you talk about "good" and bad Gramblingnites? Have you did some type of analysis on characters or is it that you're making a distinction between your little friends and those that you disagree with? That by definition is being prejudice. :emlaugh: Why would Doug not use his political ties to assist him in inking a contract with S.U. It is what any red blooded American would do. Yes? With some of your story lines, I believe that you could right an excellent movie for the Lifetime Movie Network. I for one would watch it with popcorn in one hand and Cuevo in the other. :emlaugh:
Lastly, I don't want Doug at S.U. right now because he is the coach at Grambling and don't believe in all of that nepotism. I also believe some new blood with fresh and innovative ideas should be afforded the opportunity.

LOL @ Jrock.

BTW,
Didn't Doug leave Gram the first time after signing day or something? LOL.

Years later he went right back to Mr. Charlie, where Mr. Charlie gave him a job...paying him to be a scout. Things eventually didn't work out. And when Mr. Charlie had to let him go, Doug talked about Mr. Charlie's fraternity, "the good ole boy fraternity". A person who is "capable" of being employed elsewhere in the NFL doesn't make public comments like that.

Talk about ungrateful...

The good old boy network is not a big secret. You all should be appreciative that he had the courage and backbone to shine a light on this problem once again. Sometimes people need to speak up instead of being passive. There are those that called Dr. King a trouble maker because he spoke the truth. Should Dr. King have kept his mouth closed to get another job too? :emlaugh:

Realistic how GR? Doug can't recruit like he did before APR. He can't sign 40 players and hope 15-20 of them show up eligible at some point. Now he got to coach. Now he got to take a SMART kid and coach him up. Things are different than they were when he was last coaching Gram. Broadway talent may have not been great in your book. But he could coach up the kids to play in his system. He reminded me of Pete when he first came to SU. Not a big talker and not a guy who is going to sit in living rooms and recruit a bunch of athletes. But is good enough to take solid players who understand what to do and play disciplined ball. Hell that is half the battle in the SWAC. A disciplined team with decent talent can win in this conference. Broadway was that type of coach. But the way he won was boring to a lot of folks and he didn't have that superstar play maker on offense so to speak. Doug ain't going to be able to get those either not the way he used to. Kids don't give a flip if he played in a SB in the 80s. Hell some of their parents were little kids then and barely remember. No more over signing. No more chances on props. He got to coach now GR. Really coach.

BINGO

Yes, he made sure that he landed type flight recruits so the Grambling legacy would continue. The very idea that he was not commended for his dedicated work in that thankless job no matter how many championships he has brought home. The word used I think is ungrateful. :emlaugh:

Shit as many friends Doug has hired here...hell he done created a "Good Ole N****a System"

The above is why although I love Billy Joe, his time came and went and those in his coaching tree will not see sustained success (Comegy for example). Those recruiting techniques no longer work.

I like the term "Academic Coach." People wondered why I made the statement that HBCUs need to have Notre Dame on speed dial.

The truth is that the Grambling fans have to be the most disloyal.backstabbing turncoat folks of all time. Doug is a winner and that's all he has done. Quit downing the mans son cause you don't like him or cause you have a personal case with Doug. The internet is not some bully pulpit to be used for your grievances Everytime a coach doesn't do what you think he should do. Like the commentator said this weekend "Doug has forgotten more football than you armchair qbs have ever known."

Doug maybe black and he maybe ugly but he is here."

If it wasn't for Doug you probably wouldn't have a coach. Who the hell do you think would take that job. And by the way what is Bway doing in Carolina. Surely he is undefeated. How many titles has he won? Doug has won 1. The two just don't stack up and it ain't even close.

MightyJSU has to find a way to get DJ out if this game. I don't think we can win with him slinging the ball all over the field. We have to get to their second or third string qb.

Very perceptive and astute post.

Did DJ beat jsu last year?........just asking

He was on the team, but Frank Rivers started and was the winning qb. Rivers threw a 73 yard td pass off a screen against a blitzing man defense on 3rd and Long with seconds to go before half. (Thanks JSU dumb coaching decisions0 and Dawrence Roberts outran their secondary on some long scoring run followed by a crucial 10 yard bolt up the middle (I was so tempted to say up the azz) for the winning score. JSU marched down the field but Terry Hope and Comedy cracked under pressure for the 2nd consecutive year from inside the Grambling 5 yard line.

Glad you answered that.
DJ didn't do squat against JSU last year.

and now this....this n***a Doug on some cuthroat shit....

Rivers finished 19-of-33 with three touchdowns and one interception, which Eric Brown returned for a touchdown in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 20-20.

"We had decent passing numbers, but we missed on opportunities too," Williams said. "You got to give Frank a little credit for hitting those guys, and also one of the guys took a short pass a long way.

"But we got the same result. It doesn't matter how many rush or pass yards you get, we didn't come away with the 'W'."

Frank had the best passing performance since Doug has been back and he gives the dude a "lil credit" 293 yds 3 TD's, and now you wanna talk about wins and losses, but DJ passes for 103yrds and 1 touchdown against valley (yea that Valley) (45pt Valley) and you say DJ played his best game and blame the receivers for dropped passes.....I'm Fvcking Done
