Louisiana definitely need tougher gun laws and make adults more responsible

Somehow folks take a topic and run straight of the tangent with it. I'm not talking about restricting guns period. What Louisiana needs to do is find ways to stop guns from getting into criminals hands.

If Louisiana can find a way to restrict guns from getting into the hands of criminals, then that model would be used all across the nation.

Criminals get guns by theft, by having them given to them from other criminal or some other never been prosecuted person, at gun shows, or they may even buy them through a legal means (gun store), but misrepresent themselves. Oh another way is to purchase it from law abiding citizens who just don't do any type of background checks. So take your pick, where would you start?

Also criminals will always find a way to get a gun if they really want one.

I'm sure criminals will find a way, but why make it easier for them. Just like a drug bust, everybody involved goes down. If a criminal gets busted with an illegal gun, everybody ILLEGALLY involved should go down and criminals will tell on each other if they are looking at some serious time for the crime they did.

Re: Louisiana definitely need tougher gun laws and make adults more responsible......

Precisely. And yet another reason why that New Orleans mess didn't work long in other states. It's no fun when the rabbit has a gun too.

Exactly, them Katrina dudes came here to Jackson with that mess too. You are right about their courts being a joke. Another point that 89 simply refuses to see is that NO law you come up with is going to stop criminals from being criminals. Prime example.....drugs are illegal, you can't even have drugs in your house, otherwise, yo ass is going to jail. Since when have mofos EVER not been able to get drugs?

89 smoking dat "Ooo-Wee" today! lol

In the house or outside of your house, drugs are ILLEGAL period, but you always hearing mofos getting serious time once they are caught with drugs. Why mofos can't get the same amount of serious time for being caught with an ILLEGAL gun?

So, what are you smoking today?

Dude, you acting like people don't get arrested for having a gun illegally or something. Based on the amount and volume of both drugs and guns you got in your possession ILLEGALLY determines your time! Do you even watch Law and Order or First 48? lol

Put the Sherm sticks down!

:D

treat guns like cars.

Sure I watch police T.V. My dad is a retired police officer, my brother is currently a 30 year veteran on the police department, and my sister is a lawyer in Louisiana and neither one of them will tell you that they have heard of anyone getting 30 years of prison time for having an ILLEGAL gun or distributing ILLEGAL guns. BUT they would tell you that they have heard of individuals getting 30 years for possession of with the intent to distribute drugs.

Now you need to stop puffing off that shotgun barrel.

Re: Louisiana definitely need tougher gun laws and make adults more responsible......

Actually no, lol... I just addressed why the murder rate there is the highest. It's because your justice system down there is a complete joke. They don't care about killing because they don't have to worry about actually being convicted for the crime. Prime example, look at this Lil Boosie dude. A pathetic prosecutor botched up the case and the dude that "allegedly" ordered a hit on another man will be free in a few months to do it again if he chooses. THAT'S Louisiana's issue. You can get guns anywhere in any state but that is the reason they have so many more issues than the rest. The court sucks down there.

Something is not adding up. If the courts down here suck than why are the prisons so full. In some cases you have fathers and sons serving prisons terms together. No the problem is how these kids were/are being raised in the home and the lack of education. It's sad when some parents condone this type of activity instead of teaching their kids to live right.

But Kendrick says the same people are committing the murders over and over again in Louisiana and getting off by intimidating witnesses. I guess Louisiana became the incarceration capital of world by importing criminals from other states and countries.

People keep talking about the gun laws dont matter, then why is it that the cities that are CONSTANTLY at the top of the shootings/murder list are the cities that have the most strict gun control laws? Simple, because criminals KNOW they're the only ones with guns and that the average person has no way of defending themselves against it. Chicago, Detroit, Philly, Camden, Trenton....all the super strict gun control laws. Yet Chicago has 40 shootings in ONE weekend. People are a little quicker to think about trying you when then know you're just as likely to be strapped as they are. If you can't see that you're in denial. And it's one of the main reasons you will never see Texas as high on the murder rate as you will these cities.

Actually that's a fake illusion because states like Texas and Florida murder rate may go down but their justifiable homicide shoots up.

Excuse the pun

Texas and Florida definitely believe in that stand your grounds law.

It's obvious we are not going to agree on this issue, so my question is, what are YOU doing to change things? Have you lobbied to your state rep./senator, have you gotten a petition started to get NEW laws regarding this issue. A hurricane can start with the wind of a butterfly flapping it's wings. Have you started flapping yet?

Waiting....

Since I no longer live in Louisiana, I'm can only do so much, but I have spoken to friends and family about raising this issue to their state respresentative. But I'm sure there are plenty folks like yourself fighting hard to maintain the status quo.

Dude, it's called due process of the law. If the "status quo" wanted it otherwise then it would be the law, but since their view is divergent from yours that basically makes it wrong then hunh? But at least the majority of people responding in this thread see things your way.....wait, no they don't!

:D

I guess you are one of those that only goes with the majority, even if the majority is dead wrong. Hell, if the majority in this world had it their way, we'll all be eating rice, noodles, and chihuahuas. The status quo is maintaining the existing laws, which is fvcked up.

Sorry kendrick, it was unknown1 that made that comment.

Louisiana's problem isnt their gun laws, it's their pathetic justice system. Half of those murders are committed by the same people because they know all they have to do is intimidate the witnesses and they don't have to worry about going to jail. When I saw that whole "60 day" nonsense New Orleans was doing all I could do was shake my head. That's why all of those New Orleans criminals ran back down there from Atlanta and Houston... that 60 day ish didnt fly.

I was wondering the same thing since he spoke so harshly about me trying to reduce recidivism and helping at risk kids.

You know politicians are ridiculous to me...I'll hold my opinion.

Point out where I spoke harsh about stopping criminals from continuing the life of crime.

Sure most are, but folks in Louisiana needs to pay close attention to these fools political stand and vote them out when they are not doing what is right.

And Kendrick, I didn't know 15, 16, and 17 year old teenagers were repeated murders that intimidates witnesses. Things some people would say to make their point.

Most of the time it's not the kid in question. It's others that do it for them or won't tell the truth to protect that friend or the race baiters come out and screw up the court case. I know of a few. Some of those boys are still on the street going in and out for jail for stuff ranging from drugs to SCREWING young children.

Because it's easier to let the public blow away Pookie and Ray Ray instead of wasting tax dollars to jail them and go to court. Especially the CAREER criminals.

Easy how many boys start the road to prison in elementary school?

One thing folks don't understand is when you have a kid that spends more time in the court system, probation, hellraisers in school and juvey/AEPS. Guess what all those groups talk about little Pookie and Ray Ray to other folks. Oh and it doesn't help when MOMMA brags to anyone who will listen about how bad her kid is or how PROUD she is that she raise Pookie to be a thug.

Then throw in the new age of media and google searches. Folks can find out how much of a bad azz Pookie is BEFORE jury selection and if he is a career criminal. He is going to jail even if he was innocent of the crime he committed.

How many of us serve Jury duty? Duke did a study on juries in Florida and discovered all white juries put us in jail 95% of the time. Have at least 1 person of color-it's 85%.

It starts at birth, when Social Service workers single out single mothers to encourage them to put the fathers up for child support without knowing if the mother and father have made any prior arrangements.

Hell all you need to do is watch gangland, they point out repeatedly how pathetic the justice system is down there along with New Orleans own police lieutenant. Show me anywhere else in the country with a law as ridiculous as that 60 day sh*t. Full prisons doesn't equate to locking up murderers...people can't really be this stupid? People are in jail for everything from traffic tickets to drugs to murder. But do you know what the actual conviction rate was on murder cases in New Orleans? LESS than 20%.
