Black Colleges Disappoint Again on NFL Draft Weekend

One of the scouts who came to our camp last year made the statement that the D-1 transfers who go to the SWAC aren't usually serious about football, they go for the party life.

Why would you go to a HBCU for Party life.... a white schools party life is 100 TIMES better than a HBCU party life.

I meant to say social life, but I don't know if that would make a major difference though. My thoughts are though that if he thinks that, then there are some others who do so as well.

Dude also said that Casey wouldn't be drafted but said D rob would be. He was hit and miss on that.

:retard: Thank you. Doesn't even come CLOSE to comparing, IMO. Hell, they sell alcohol on quite a few of their campuses and they had the co-ed thing working waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay before the men on one side of campus, females on the other side of campus, and all students had to be in by 9pm lol deals @ HBCUs was abolished.

There's so much, much more to get into on PWCU campii (plural campus lol). Where's JR? :read: I know his ass was soiree'ing up and down high street doing shat one block over. Not that I'd know anything about all that there. :read:

What I think you both missed from my television comment concerning HBCUs was that how do you get talent to come to your school? If a kid knows that he is going to play on television, if a kid feels that he will be seen, versus using the recruiting tactic..."Scouts find talent play your heart out...." That's not working. Names like Doug Williams is not working. What other things will bring this guy to your school to play football?

Ok this kid can run fast...will he be seen more on television running a 4.2 at Alcorn versus a 4.2 at Notre Dame?

This goes back to my original point. Get these so called rich Black Folks to front money to aide these programs. Let's be honest we have to advertise our kids.

Also....I seriously believe this 9 game mandate is killing us as well.

Prior to Doug's return, one of the knocks some put on the former staff was that "he's not recruiting pro talent" (although he had only one class that he recruited (Frank Warren's Class) to become eligible for the draft). I always thought that was foolish just as the assumption that Doug would wave a magic wand and all of a sudden, we'd have kids drafted. There are many factors, true recruiting better talent is one of them, but the draft isn't as deep (number of rounds) as in the past. Having Doug recruiting has the POTENTIAL to get us better high school talent, but for guys (our signees) to get into the league, we need to not only "coach them up" but work on the drills/conditioning workouts that are "scout" appealing!

I thought it was about the money pool. If a team can get an excellent player without spending any money they get a real deal. You don't have to draft a player from a HBCU because it is a business decision and if our guys get the opportunity to camp they will beat out a lot of drafted players.

And there you have it. Same for other FCS players.

You all are fooling yourselves if you think pro scouts are bypassing talent just because it's FCS.

There's a reason only 15 of 253 draft picks were from FCS schools, but that reason is NOT because pro scouts can't recognize or ignored talent on the FCS level.

You people act like you don't see the difference in talent and skill when you're watching FCS sports. Especially HBCU sports. Y'all kill me.

Most folks are saying what you just said.

Yep... and our numbers are down because kids who could be playing and getting coached up at our schools are lanquishing on the bench at Big School U!

But can you blame them with some of the sad arse coaching we got? I love our HBCUs. But we don't have the Coach Rob's, Gorden's, Casem's, and others anymore roaming our sidelines. So just like our talent level is down. So is our coaching level. Which in some ways worse than our talent. I saw some kids get drafted that didn't even start at those FBS schools. Case in point, one of the LSU DBs who was not a full time starter got drafted. Mo Claiborne and the Honey Badger were there starting CBs. But the 3rd CB got drafted.

He can't be serious with that statement...lol....even with the social life comment that has to be a statement made on straight ASSumption

LOL. I was all over High Street during grad school. But mind you, SU was considered party central back in the 80s and LSU was too. I bet they still are. I think a lot of our HBCUs have gotten more serious about the campus partying aspect. Don't hear about it like I used to when we were undergrads back in the 80s. Kids leave campus now to go do stuff. But you are correct, plenty to get into when you are at those PWCs. Especially if you are a ball player. Plus like you say, they sell alcohol on most of those PWC campuses. I know they do at Ohio State.

Man when we got coaches who let their ego's take over instead of what is best for the program and school we get these results. Stop being arrogant and consider your fan base and team SWAC coaches!!!!! Still can't believe he played that hurt dude in the SCG!!! Dang shame!!!!

WOW! That was pretty :retard: of him to say.

HBCUs ain't got nothin' on them toga parties, frat parties, drinking parties.....those white schools have a bunch of kids dying from alchol poisoning at these parties

Yeah, it's usually someone who didn't attend an HBCU and is speculating on something they know nothing about or usually it's a white person.

And he's hit and miss on a bunch of other stuff as well.....

DAMN RIGHT, PANTH, DAMN RIGHT!

No they not.
The top left overs are on 2nd tier FBS schools like Lou Monroe ot top FCS schools. Whats left are playing on Top D2 and JUCO teams hoping to get a second look from BIG SCHOOL U in 2 years.

Go back and look at your states top 100 list and see when the majority ended up. I'll bet you the majority went the JUCO route and by-passed us all together.

Really...some of you...really.

How is the SWAC measuring up to other FCS schools as far as talent. Instead of SWAC schools playing that school in Alabama or that small ass Virginia high school...play strong FCS schools...

Oh I forgot these schools didn't play us when we were good in the 60s and 70s so we should not play them now...

Smacking your own is a sign honesty.....take notes folks.

JR. :goof:

You know you could put all 10 SWAC teams together for a weekend and our party atmosphere could not even mess with Miss State and Ole Miss. Those mofo's up there in North Mississippi are insane when it come to football party weekends so you know what a LSU, Bamma, Ohio State, or Penn State weekend is like. :lmao:

We done had that discussion before.
SWAC and FCS are SEPERATE throughout the fall but our fans want to be EQUAL when it comes to recognition.

I don't know about that.

SHEEEEEEEED!!!

Take youself to Ole Miss or Starkvegas for a football weekend. You would not believe the parting those mofos do. I know you don't like those schools but on the real tip, there is not a SWAC game played that will touch them by comparing activities and the amount of partying that go on. The black kids might love to come kick it with us, and party like there is no tomorrow, but it ain't even close.

Not the BC, Not the SHC, Not JSU/SU............ none of that. Sorry but that is just the str8 truth. Ole Miss is not in the top 3 or #1 party school for nothing every year.

That's pretty much true. Frat row be lit up with EVERY frat house having a live band and their own party. Those small towns usually have something going on - bands, events ....

It's a different world. Literally.

I TOTALLY disagree with the atmosphere at those schools being the end all, be all of partying and fun on game day/wknd. Especially for "us" And definitely not the MCC.
:D
