President Barack Obama announced a plan Friday that would pressure colleges and universities to rein in soaring tuition costs by making federal aid contingent on schools’ affordability and value to students.

“Higher education is not a luxury. It’s an economic imperative that every family in America should be able to afford,” Obama said at an event at the University of Michigan campus in Ann Arbor. “It’s not just enough to increase student aid and you can imagine why. It is my belief that America should offer more tuition-free colleges and universities. It is hard for the average family to afford college for their children, especially if a kid want to attend college out-of-state. President Obama is right in the regard that education should only be for the wealthy or the elite. Right now, four-year colleges are just not worth it, considering the debt garnered and the current job market.

Funded by corporations.

Practical training and instruction in the skills they need.

Think about it ....

Would radically change the higher education landscape, huh?

For better or worse would be the question. May widen gap but honestly, that is not something govt can close. It is sink or swim right now for grads...
