RG3 is putting on a clinic!!!

Because they want to leave their school on a good note. Some kids actually enjoy their time in college. I mean Colt McCoy got injured in the BCS title game.

Playing in the BCS title game is not the same as playing in the Belk Bowl. No reason for RG3 to risk future dollars by trying to win the Alamo Bowl when that cat will be a high first round draft pick. National title game is a different story, though.

These kids don't even get financial bonuses for participating in postseason games. Sure, they might get free swag, but most of those guys sell that stuff for money once the bowl game is over.

Shoot, you have Illinois assistant coaches threatening not to coach in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl due to contract disputes, yet nobody is advising the student-athletes to think twice about playing in a meaningless bowl game and placing their potential NFL careers on the line.

I agree with you, the title game if it was a real one. RG3 had no business risking his future in a tick tack bowl.

He wanted to win for his team and school. How are you going to say that when players have been playing in these bowl games for almost a century?

The Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas between A&M and Northwestern is on now. Now THIS is a useless bowl. The texans play at Reliant tomorrow so there goes that lie that some like to tell about the LDC not being able to be played in Reliant prior to a Texan's game. The field looks bad.

I couldn't help but think, "Why is this RG3 even playing in a meaningless game?"

I mean, if he turns pro, he will be a top 10 pick in the NFL easy. RG3, Luck, Blackmon and other possible first-round draft picks are risking millions playing in a glorified exhibition game where they have really nothing to gain financially or even winning a championship.

We criticize NFL head coaches for playing star players in Week 16 and Week 17 when those teams have playoff spots and home-field advantage locked up. When Wes Welker tore his ACL in the last game of the season a few years ago in Week 17, Bill Belichick was ripped for the decision.

Yet, nobody says anything about stud players playing in Little Caesars Bowl or in the Independence Bowl in front of a dozen people in the rain risking future earnings in the process

Pride and integrity, I wouldn't want to be known as someone who quit in their team, like Deshawn Jackson. Should Ricky Weeks have quit on SU during his final season because he knew he would be a top pick?
