Syracuse Assistant Being Investigated For Alleged Molestation

Syracuse police say they are investigating an allegation that Syracuse University assistant basketball coach Bernie Fine molested a team ball boy for more than a dozen years beginning in the mid-1980s.

Police stressed to Outside The Lines they are in the early stages of the investigation.

The alleged victim, Bobby Davis, now 39, told Outside the Lines that Fine molested him beginning in 1983 shortly before Davis entered the seventh grade. Davis, the team's ball boy for six years beginning in 1984, said the abuse occurred at Fine's home, at the Syracuse basketball facilities, and on road trips, including the 1987 Final Four.

In addition, a second man -- a relative of Davis -- told OTL that he was also molested by Fine around the same time as the first boy.

Fine is now in his 35th season as an assistant to head coach Jim Boeheim.

Davis said he never told Boeheim about the alleged abuse.

Not only that and Olympic swimming coach was banned from coaching and being affiliated with the Olympic sports ever again for the same thing and like my daddy state "a lot more will be coming out about the players and coaches" :smh:!

After the Penn State revelations came to the forefront, and the main players in that case were punished and ridiculed, it will give the abused more courage to come forward and tell their stories. It's not easy for these people to immediately speak out because of the fear that goes along with it. Folks believe that these deviant acts are all about sex. It's not. It's about power and control for the most part.

If that's the case...I beleive more high profile guys will get exposed.......OR MORE MONEY WILL GET SPENT THIS HOLIDAY SEASON....
 
They should OUT everyone of those monsters...and don't leave off those women coaches either. I've been saying this is a problem, Problem, PROBLEM and nobody does enough to stamp it out.
 
"I know this kid, but I never saw him in any rooms or anything," Boeheim told ESPN. "It is a bunch of a thousand lies that he has told. You don't think it is a little funny that his cousin (relative) is coming forward?

"On hearing of the allegations in 2005, the University immediately launched its own comprehensive investigation through its legal counsel. That nearly four-month long investigation included a number of interviews with people the complainant said would support his claims. All of those identified by the complainant denied any knowledge of wrongful conduct by the associate coach. The associate coach also vehemently denied the allegations.
 
This case is different because the university did a full investigation and couldn't find anyone to back up the victim's story. You have to be careful with this type of stuff, because some people will falsely accuse people just to get a check.

I agree that it has to be some sort of mental illness. This shouldn't be too surprising that some big named coaches are involved in these scandals, because it has happened to people in almost every profession.

That's just like in Africa and Persian countries (Iraq, Iran and etc.) Homosexuality is highly frowned on and in countries like the U.S., England, Spain homosexuality is given a more lenient status (that does not include me).

Umm, maybe adult male on adult male but there is plenty molestation involving grown men and young boys going on in the middle East.

(I am not EVIL person when I say this) If the gov't were to implement a harsher punishment for molestation like if found out on the SECOND offense of molestation they will castrate you along with rape and other sex crimes I BET YOU crime would seriously go down BUT you never know who is "on the take" because those individuals will fight you hard to keep it from becoming law! I was just thinking the other day that SEX and DRUG crimes are usually the MOST violent crimes because it is based on a DEMENTED BUTPOWERFUL FEELING that almost always lead individuals to do anything to get it!

They have a word for it: pederasty. More particularly, in Arabic, bacha bazi. I'm not going to provide links folks. Google is your friend.

It's not considered molestation either. Actually, the idea that sex with the young is "immoral" is a relatively new idea in terms of world history. Whether with girls or boys.

Pops, you're right though. A lot of ancient customs are still partaken of in the Middle East including sex with boys.

Castration won't deter child molestation just like the death penalty doesn't necessarily stop folks from killing each other each day. Besides, you talk about castrating sex offenders, right? What about the women? Do you castrate female sex offenders as well?
 
These practices are inbedded in most cultures, especially warring cultures. They married women for money, property and to procreate. They had men and boys for their pleasure and companionship. Japan, China, Greece, Rome, Persia, Germania, Prussia. Nothing out here is new.
