COUNTDOWN TO ARMAGEDDON - LSU ALABAMA

You do realize that Georgia has skated in the SEC this season. They ended up getting Miss. State, Ole Miss, and Auburn on their schedule this year(they will be exposed in Atlanta). The only ranked teams they have faced were South Carolina and Boise State and they lost both games. There is no way you can use 1 win in the 1st game of the season as your reason for placing Boise State in the title game over a 1-loss Oklahoma, Arkansas, Oregon, or Alabama.

What's the reason behind preseason rankings then?

I believe there is no way you should rank a one-loss team ahead of an unbeaten team. That subjective stuff don't fly with me. Bama being ahead of Boise is bull crap. They were kept out of the end zone at home and are ranked ahead of an undefeated team? No way.

Using your logic why should Oregon get another chance to lose to LSU again in what would amount as a home game for the Tigers? Oklahoma lost to Texas Tech. At home. Favored by four touchdowns. Texas Tech then lost the next week 41-7 at home to Iowa State and 52-20 to Texas yesterday. Arkansas gave up 38 points to a Bama team that could not score at their place last night. We can play the transitive property of wins all day. Bottom line is that Boise should be ahead of Bama.

Give Tebow some time please. The Broncos are just that bad with 0 weapons on offense. There is a reason why they were horrible last season and started off 1-4 this season. You can't win in the NFL with a poor OL, poor RBs, poor WRs, and inconsistent defense.

The Broncos are horrible, but Tebow hasn't even looked like a practice squad player in his time on the field.

I think who you play has to count for some degree, unless you're willing to argue that Houston should be in the top 5. Even though I don't agree with it, I can understand the case for Bama being ahead of Boise with one loss.

Yeah, we all know SEC wins count as three extra wins, and close losses count as a half-loss in the eyes of the voters.

I still think if you give him a decent OL and some type of threat at RB or WR and he would look better. Both he and Orton have had no time to breathe in the pocket.

So basically what you are saying Tebow needs to be back at Florida.

Come on now, we know 100% for sure that Alabama and Oklahoma both would be undefeated with Boise State's schedule. There is no debate about that. Strength of schedule has to count for something. You would think after being left out of the discussion several time due to their schedule that Boise would develop a more challenging schedule. You don't have to get Alabama or LSU on your schedule, but what was stopping them from getting Houston, Kansas State, or even Iowa on their schedule? Boise State could have played Notre Dame since they play everyone.

Plus having a creative offensive coach would help as well. I keep saying that Tebow isn't going to be a Peyton Manning and win the game with his arm, but he can be a great game manager that will give you 185 in the air and 70 on the ground each game. Put him with the Minnesota Vikings, and he would be much better.

Nobody wants to play Boise State, especially in Boise. The only BCS real non-conference games they get are either road games or at "neutral sites." The school only with the nuts to play them home and home from a BCS conference recently was Oregon. And Boise State held the eventual Pac-12 champs to 8 points on the Smurf Turf two years ago. Not even LSU can say that.

They definitely thrive in those 1-game showdowns, but give them Florida's schedule of playing #1 LSU, #4 Alabama, #25 Auburn, and #16 Georgia all back-to-back, with having #15 South Carolina and Florida State still on the schedule, and see if they would be willing to play a strong program in an OOC road game.

All of this is what if. I like to operate on what is. Is it Boise St's fault that they didn't play a harder schedule than Bama or Okie St? No. If you're gonna have them in the top 10 all year and they go undefeated then what's the point? For all that the BCS should just chose only 4 conferences to pick the National Champion from and say forget all the rest.

This is exactly why I'm in favor of a playoff because you don't know who would be who on any given day unless they play.

I agree. If you are going to place a team in the Top 5 and they are 8-0, but are behind a team that is 7-1, what's the point of ranking them so high in the preseason poll to begin with?

It's subjective. If Boise St and LSU are the only two undefeated teams left then I wanna see those two play in New Orleans. If Boise St gets blown out then their hype would end. If Boise St wins or keeps it close then it validates them imo.

We might not ever know, because the crooked BCS that people are so in love with. Is looking for a way to keep Boise St. out! If the system was fair, playoff, playoff, until then I don't watch.

Believe me, more than enough people watch in your place. lol

Yes it is their fault they chose to play in a weak conference and constantly whine about never getting a shot in the title game. Boise State doesn't even have to play a hard OOC, just schedule 1 tough opponent and 3 decent schools. Instead of playing Tulsa and Toledo, they could have played Cinncinatti and UCLA. You see what TCU did? They joined a conference that will instantly give them a chance to win the championship. Boise State finally decided to go to the Big East, but they may have missed their chance since the Big East is about to become a mid-major conference too.

If the voters know Boise State doesn't play a rigorous non-conference or Mountain West schedule, then what was the point of placing them preseason No. 5 to start the season? If you start them that high knowing what their schedule is, then you don't penalize them for winning those games.

But that's the crooked, mafia style BCS. Controling who plays for the national title and not have it decided on the field. You make a good point.

It at least guarantees them a spot in the BCS though. While we are debating this, a lot of stuff can change from now until the end of the regular season. #1 LSU still has to play #8 Arkansas and more than likely #14 Georgia in the SEC Championship Game. #2 Oklahoma State still has to play #6 Oklahoma and with their defense the Texas Tech and Iowa State games could be interesting. #3 Stanford still has to play #7 Oregon and Notre Dame. #4 Alabama still has a trap game coming up against Miss. State and their rivalry game against #23 Auburn. That means everything isn't set in place yet, Arkansas can easily jump into the national title picture by winning their remaining games.

Why can't Boise St. play for the National Title just like everyone else? They are part of the BCS, then they should be able to play for the title. It is not just for the SEC.

The funny thing is that the BCS doesn't solely use the voters. Strength of schedule factors in.

Which is clearly flawed. Strength of schedule is a matter of opinion. The only clear cut way to determine who's the best is to have the 12 conferences place their conference champ in a playoff. Take all doubt out of the equation. Eliminate rankings and all of that crap. Especially Pre-Rankings.
