A white powdery substance believed to be narcotics was discovered on the body of a 42-year old megachurch Florida pastor who was discovered dead in a Times Square hotel room, a law enforcement official said Monday.

The cause of death for the Rev. Zachery Tims, Jr., who led an 8,000-member ministry in Orlando, is still pending.

Tims’s body was discovered Friday afternoon when a worker trying to check the minibar in his room at the W Hotel found it latched from the inside. A maintenance worker opened the door and found Tims lying on his back between the bedroom and living room area. According to a law enforcement official, police found a glassine envelope with a white powerdery substance inside the right pocket of his shorts.

The substance was being tested, according to a law enforcement official.

Another law enforcement official familiar with the case said, “what that white powdery substance is and whether it played a role in Mr. Tims’ death is still to be determined.â€￾

Police found no signs of trauma to his body. At this point criminality is not suspected, officials said. Detectives spoke with his family members and it appears Tims died in possession of his jewelry and other belongings.

What is this shyt..."A white powdery substance believed to be narcotics"?

Hell if it had been Pookie and RayRay, they could have told the paper from just glancing in the door from the sidewalk across the street it was COCAINE.

Why they got to test. They ain't sticking the pinky in it and putting it on the tip of the tongue no more? Ain't that how they make arrests still? :smh:

But honestly, I was kinda wondering if it was gonna be Eddie Longstrokes. Oh...well...

They don't do that anymore because it led to police officers having failed drug test. Plus there are medications that are powdery. But you are right if it was Ray Ray nem....the article would have read.... Ray Ray Williams found in room with.....as a matter of fact if it was Ray Ray this would not have even made the news.

:smh: :smh: And these are the people being "called" to lead the head of the church.

It's good to know Jesus for YOURSELF.

This is why I run when folks tell me they been called to preach. You better off listening to a crack head, then a preacher at a church today. They pimping, doing lil boys, selling dope, freaking the church women. Man it is sad.

Girl, I've learned they just "calling" around amongst themselves--Friends and Family minutes and all. Their actions clearly SHOW HE hadn't called them cause they act like they have no clue of what HE wants them to do...when HE called and spoke to them. Or maybe, like on TSPN, comprehension isn't fundamental with them too...

"In 2009, Tims and his wife Riva divorced after he admitted to a year-long affair with a stripper. The couple had been married for 15 years."

Is it safe to say his restoration process was a failure? If so, would it be reasonable to question any of his preaching during this "process"?

The more I hear about these mega-church preachers, the more I'm convinced they are pulpit pimps and their followers are "sheep".

So true. Same issues in the first century church. The sad part is that we continue to repeat them.

Do you suppose that people would have been better off listening to the town drunk that to Peter, Paul, James, and John?

If Pastor Tims was abusing drugs, then his death is certainly another blight on the face of Christianity. If not, then it is simply a heart-felt loss to a group of people who will recover and press forward.

Yes sir. Jesus could have went any where, but he came to the ghetto to start his message for a reason. He is truly the reason for the season......

Exactly.

Which is why I think this restoration process is man-made garbage. If you're not able to do the job, step down until you prove that you are able to. Staying in the position and calling it a "restoration process" is bull.

That would be very pre-mature at this point. It might even be difficult to connect the two at all.

What IS interesting to know is that Pastor Tims did sell drugs when he was growing up in Baltimore, before his conversion. If his death is attributed to drug abuse, it would seem logical for people to connect his death to that time of his life and go so far as question whether he ever gave up that lifestyle.

First ............. Hate the guy is dead.

But I say that everytime people post about one of these "preachers." When Eddie Long was bragging about how he walk with leaders of countries, kings, etc., because he ain't no small time preacher, I knew he was a fake mofo then.

Ya'll forget one thing, "being called" is just that "being called". It's not being "elevated". As much as I hate this phrase, but (they are only human) and are subject to the same ills as the rest of us. The thing is when they're being hypocritical about it. If you got issues then step down, and I agree no restoration while in the pulpit, the deacon board, matrons, no teaching, no nothing. Get restored before being restored. But the members have just as much to blame as the pastor/preacher. Stop lifting these men/women up like they are some kind of saint.

My opinion is simple.....in order to be "called" to do something you should have had to go through some things in your life....I call it the "Precipice" of life.

What do you mean by "should have had to go through some things in life..."? Are you saying go through some things like issues/challenges that you have overcome or go through some teachings, etc. like theology school?

Overcome issues and challenges....there is a church here in Ruston where the pastor has not gone to theology but his members are fed the message. I'm just not a mega church fan....you don't receive that special touch in my opinion.

For instance can a member of TD Jakes church walk up to him and ask to speak in private....

Elevated is a very good term for the action of ordination. We certainly do get into trouble when we exalt humans.

I agree that the proper order of things is to step down and complete the restoration process first.

Why? It could have been a trial he was going through. Maybe, if it was drugs, he could have made it through and added to his testimony. Pastors are still people. They are allowed to fall and get back up too.
