Hmmm...while that probably is true even for Chicago, I am willing to bet $100 that the police would not allow these same folks to stand in front of a liquor store on the north side of Chicago. I think it also has to do with the politician. That liquor store I mentioned on 58th & Prairie had a blue-light camera placed directly above it on the pole. During that SHORT time there was NOBODY hanging in front of the liquor stores. The owners (Arabs or whatever they are) complained and the camera came down. Why would they remove the camera when it helped make the neighborhood look better overall!??! (rhetorical question).
That's one of the main issues...they don't "serve and protect" equally throughout the City. Don't get me wrong, crimes happen up north or in "other" neighborhoods but the police presence in those neighborhoods are much GREATER than on the Southside. Folks try to say, "it's b/c they call the cops up there"...folks on the south side call the cops too...it's just that when the cops finally show up they have a totally different attitude then they do up north. Not to put all the blame on the cops but daymn...if they CAN'T do their job then what's their purpose!??!

But these aren't robberies or car jackings...these are gang fueds. So most times they don't see it coming b/c someone is just running up on them or rolling by in a car and start shooting. that's how innocent folks on the street get killed b/c they are just shooting in the direction.
Now there are some scenarios where a person will walk right up on someone and shoot them point blank. But again...it's not b/c they know the other person doesn't have a gun...it's b/c that's what they are going to do. They don't give them time to pull the gun. Shucks, a block away from my parents house...dope boys from the City just moved in last year...standing out front. Dude walked up to the father, gave him dap and a hug...stepped back and shot him twice in the chest, I think he might still be trying to live. But that wasn't random and you best believe the father had a gun somewhere on him or in the house.

Down here, black and white mofo's used to ride with gun racks in the window of their pickup trucks back in the day. People have always known that there is a good chance the ordanary citizen is armed to the teeth and won't think nothing about shooting back with deadly aim. Down here, ain't no "spraying the area." These mofo's hit what they aim for. That is why when you read a story about a shooting in Jackson or anywhere around here, you don't read about the police picking up buckets of shell casings. 5 or 6 at the most. Remember this is the south. The 2nd biggest sport down here after football is HUNTING. A person can light your azz up from 50 yards with a bow and arrow. :lol:

I was talking to a beat cop last year about this very same thing. At the time he said he didn't understand why there was a handgun ban in the city. This cat said the residents are basically sheep waiting to be slaughtered by the criminals and thugs on the street because they know the people in the neighborhood more than likely don't have guns on them and can't defend themselves.
Dude was like, these politicians don't care. They don't care about ya'll. "We take these guys in on a gun charge and they right back on the street a couple of months later."
While having a gun doesn't guarantee complete safety or stop a cat from running up on you, it does give that a person a shot to at least defend themselves.

Oh it makes a difference, thug or not. Put up NRA stickers on your house and watch how every house in the neighborhood EXCEPT yours gets robbed. Regardless of how tough a lot of these dudes seem most of them dont want to approach anyone that they think will actually pose as much of a threat to them as they pose to the potential victim. There are obviously exceptions to the rule but in general it holds true. It even applies with gangs.. there's a reason many of them choose to do drive by's instead of just walking up in the crib with heat.
And its not about just having a gun on you.. if you're coming towards me and I dont know you chances are my hand is already on my holster. Being aware of your surroundings is as big a part of carrying concealed as having the weapon itself. That and actually knowing how to use it. A lot of these dudes walk around with guns and cant shoot the side of a barn with it.. holding it sideways like they see on tv. This is why the police kill to being killed ratio in shootouts is so high, they train for it. Honestly I like my chances against the average street dude when it comes down to that.. Cities like Chicago and New Orleans have high murder rates but that also comes from high poverty rates and gangs. I'd be willing to bet that 90% of the murders in both cities stem from drugs and gangs.

Any place that has these huge housing projects, with all the gangs and violence that go with them are on another type of mentality. They grow up with the gang mentality and that mentality get's hardened as time go on. Death is just part of their world and they don't care when the bullets start flying.
Around here, you got pockets like this but not entire neighborhoods where you walk to one corner, one gang has control and 50 feet away, another gang has control. Put two different groups like that in the same 3 block area, and shat will always be off the hook.
The only thing that will change this is the people themselves stopping all this, I'm V-lord, my baby mamma is V-lord down, so my kid is V-lord from the first time they slip into this world. You have kids in those cities that are literally born into that shat. The entire family, generation after generation, are born into those gangs and they teach their kids that way of life and nothing else.
