For Jackson State fans

Re: For Jackson State fans....

IMHO, this was a fair question. JSU people can really take something and run with it.

I am not a JSU person (of course), but i feel the answer to the original question is at that time to the JSU fan base nothing less than winning a championship was acceptable. I think the year Southern beat JSU twice really hurt Hughes, and most of the JSU fans felt that JSU had way more talent than Southern and lost anyway. As a result, they felt they were winning off JSU's talent (the school name to draw talent), and winning despite Hughes, not because of him. Then Hughes would lose to team he should have beat, and that made it worse.

Also realize Hughes was really 7-4 in 2002, Alabama St. hung 61 points on them and beat them 61-58 (correct me if I am wrong, but I think that was JSU's Homecoming) but Alabama St. years later had to forfeit that game.

Re: For Jackson State fans....

Hey 83,
This is my post. Maybe you missed the part about "in just athletics alone". There's much more unrelated to athletics.

but beans,
The beautiful Acadome is still standing. And since then, in just athletics alone, we've built a brand new football complex, a brand new baseball stadium, a brand new softball facility and we're building the crown jewel, a state of the art on campus football stadium.

since yall threw Hughes out with the wash (after all that washing he did for yall :smh:) ,what's going on at Jsu? :scared:

but again, this is about Hughes.

carry on....

You just dont want to leave it alone, do ya? Didnt I say that we have new buildings, fields, etc...? The buildings I was speaking of wasnt just academics.

The 61-58 game was in 2001. And I think the game was just vacated. The losing team doesnt get to change their record to say that they won.

And all I did was ask you "what is new at Jsu" cause I didn't know you all had new athletic facilities. Then 83 comes in talking about Jsu west and east. :scared:

sheesh!

:smh:

WELL U ASKED AND HE GAVE U THE ANSWER. ANYTHING ELSE U WANNA KNOW ABOUT THE GREAT JSU??

Re: For Jackson State fans....

Lie............Just business.
Hughs had took us as far as he could take us. He never had a losing season but losing to scrubbs like North Carolina A@T did him in. Every year, he always lost to sorry teams that he had no business losing too. The one thing he did do was take the SU warning to heart after the 1999 season. He knew he could not lose to SU anymore after the 5 losses in the late 1990's. He punished SU after the 1999 season but started losing to every scrubb we used to punish starting in 2000.

NCA@T(3 times), lost to UAPB for the first time in 2000, and then started losing to Bamma State(3 times).

He you 'lerning' me something today (no pun intended)! I would have given him an ultimatum of beating NC A&T and Bama State a few times and then "gotten rid" of him if he didn't--because that 8-3 was pretty but sometimes a sorry team just might come "into their own" and have your number!

You forgot the weight room and the soon to be completed soccer field.

Re: For Jackson State fans....

And FYI, Hughes wasn't going 8-3. He was going 7-4. His records were 9-3, 7-4, 7-4, and 7-4. He got an ultimatum to fire certain assistant coaches and he wouldn't do it. So he was told to either make it to B'Ham or he was fired. The rest is history.

Yep...............My bad.
Forgot all about the new soccer field and updated weight rooms MH. Add these too the list of other ATHLETIC IMPROVEMENTS since Hughs left after the 2002 season I listed up there.

Re: For Jackson State fans....

Thanks for the old,,,,err, I mean ole update.
Hell, you asked an old ass question, dude. Don't be asking what's new since the invention of he Model T, then get critical when 100,000, 000 cars and trucks and such are named. But fact is, none that stuff mentioned was there until after Hughes was let go. He mighta won a championship if he had was Bell and Comegy had.

You came in and then came back asking what has JSU done for athletics since Hughs been gone. I told you. Can't help it if bamma State JUST got started building 2 years ago. Ain't my fault JSU started 10 years ago and not finished yet.

Point taken and you shole is right rob.

I didnt realize Hughes left soo long ago. He had such an impact that it seems like it was just a couple years ago that he was there.

After the 1st seven post, I just went with the flow as usual.
Unmoderated smacking on JSU threads on the Sports page don't even bother me anymore after all this time. In fact, I would be shocked if it didn't happen.

Ummm is that suppose to be smack? If so, then that really makes JSU look bad by saying that it has taken them 10 yrs to do all of this improvements while Bama State has pretty much accomplished similiar goals in less time.
