Which more than likely it will be GUD. I agree with rj also. If they ban SU and GSU from the basketball tournament, JSU and SU should be ban from playing in the SCG. Point Blank, Period but if the only way to send a strong message concerning academics is to band all parties involved. Allow the others that didn't have the problems reap the benefits and that will make the parties involved work harder. The will band the two schools from the SCG, that just allows someone else to step in.
:smh:If the Presidents ban JSU and SU, look for SCG attendance to drastically decline.
Do y'all really expect an East president to vote JSU to remain eligible for the SCG???
If you guys think the SWAC loses out on recruits, let our Presidents not vote on banning JSU and SU. Every FCS school and lower tier FBS would use this against our schools. You guys gotta use your heads for once. Folks already type cast our schools, and now we going to let them be able to say "Why send your child to a SWAC school, they don't care about his academics". Black parents already believe white is right, now you send two schools who the NCAA says are not performing and every PWC in the nation will use this.
Exactly.
I personally don't see the SWAC presidents voting to ban JSU from the SWAC Championship Game.
If the Presidents ban JSU and SU, look for SCG attendance to drastically decline. This means that potential funding could be lost.
If the NCAA considers the SCG a regular season game, they have no say in the matter.
Like someone stated earlier, JSU and SU do not have the lowest APR ratings in the SWAC and the conference has no set standards for APR ratings in order for teams to qualify for the SCG.
Now, if the SWAC already had set rules in place regarding SCG qualifications, that would be a different story but it doesn't.
If the Presidents voted to ban JSU and SU, they'd be setting a precedent that's never been addressed before the precedent had been set.
If the SWAC Presidents were to be honest and fair, APR rules should already have been set in place and defined before suddenly banning teams from a non-NCAA sanctioned event.
As far as basketball is concerned, that also has financial repercussions. Those rules have already been set by the NCAA and SWAC schools do participate in the NCAA tournament, so I'd understand if basketball teams with insufficient APR ratings were banned by the Presidents.
How so? The NCAA has already banned Jackson State and Southern from the FCS playoffs so no further action is needed. Neither JSU or Southern have the lowest football APR in the conference. The NCAA's minimum APR is 900 so they banned both teams. Does the SWAC have a minimum APR standard in order for teams to qualify for the SCG? If not, leave well alone.
Well just prepared because they are going to ban SU and JSU for the SCG and GSU and SU for basketball to just make it seem they really care about academics. I already expect it.
I don't expect them to gauge it from that angle. But I still go back to what I said earlier, regardless of how the SCG is viewed technically by the NCAA, we (the SWAC) look at the game as "our" post season.
As for basketball, that ban has to be a no brainer.
Ok so what happens if the waiver is granted????
Exactly.
I personally don't see the SWAC presidents voting to ban JSU from the SWAC Championship Game.
Is that a "misery loves company" type decision?
JSU and/or Southern playing in the SCG has no potential implications on the conference. Allowing GSU and/or Southern to play in the SWAC Tournament has potential implications for the simple fact that if either of them were to win the conference tournament, it would affect our auto bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The football decisions would have major implications, in my opinion. It would send a horrible message about the priorities of our schools.

They are also talking about removing the baseball tournament from Shreveport. All the teams said they were unhappy with the playing field.

Let it go, mh. Ain't nothing techincal about it. But why wouldn't the prez's look at it from that angle. You take out the main competition, giving your own team a much better chance to make it.
Precisely!!!!!When did the SWAC begin to care what others thought about our priorities and integrity? Hell, we already told the NCAA that they could kiss our azz when we started our championship game. And for those that's taking the academic integrity angle, don't forget that our defending champs have the LOWEST APR in the country. That same team will have the ability to represent us once again as SWAC champs.
