You fix the families my fixing the culture of what is being presented to our kids.. You can't change a GROWN azz man or WOMAN bruh... you been around to know that. Only way it is possible to change GROWN adults is for them to see their KIDS changing before their eyes... These families with the issues have bad visions of the future for their lives and their kids... Someone has to change that. You can't expect a HIGH SCHOOL drop out.. dope dealing father or mother to even THINK about changing that.

Change these LIBERAL shows.. displaying gay behavior.. pregnant at 16, house wives of what ever.... much as I like the show..."First 48"... and flood the stations with positve programming AGAIN then that in itself will change children "bad" learned behavior at home... Kids in households with drug addicts should be identified and have special attention at SCHOOL and some kind of reprogramming tool that let's them know they need to be praying for their parents and learning to WANT to change their cycle..

Parents strung out CAN'T and will NOT change or fix their familes...THEY need to be FIXED.

Well, granted teens with J.R. Smith tatts are not a good look. But in the grand scheme of things there are much more larger problems such as the economy, unemployment (for blacks its at 16 percent) and the lack economic development that have just ravaged lower middle class to lower lower class families and individuals.

It seems like every time you turn around there is another note about how grim the future is. Reports say college graduates are going to have a devil of a time finding a job even though they are leaving school with more debt than ever before.

Medicaid, Medicare and unions are under attack. The housing bubble seems to be on its way to bursting again, gas prices are creating inflation and social programs that help the under served and the poor are being taken out or cut drastically or are on the table to be cut. Our national debit is absurd right now and we're using tons of resources to fight two wars.

Yeah, parents being able to raise their kids is important. But world are these kids going to live in down the line if these other issues are not alleviated?

All these things have an effect on blacks due to the fact we as people don't really own anything or have a tremendous amount of influence in the governing process that will change things for the better.

It is not Government's job to raise your family - instill values or morals in you - TO PRAY AT SCHOOL (folks kill me with the line "if they had prayer in school things would be better - no if your ass prayed with your family before they went to school in the morning and again at home that evening then you wouldnt need prayer in school. You trust the school to pray for your child but not discipline your child - gtfoh) - dictate to tv/radio/entertainment what to produce/show. These are the measures of REAL families - being a part of your child's life and knowing what they watch, who they talk to etc...when you instill the values and morals you desire to see in your children it affects the community in a positive manner. I dont need nor want any President, Congressional person, Govenor, Mayor, Councilor - any elected official attempting to tell me how to live - that is my choice.

For those families that need to be fixed - that's where the the Gov't role comes in - to insure there are resources to help you get fixed - Republicans call them handouts or "entitlement" programs...should I not be 'entitled' to access to resources to help me become a productive member of society? And for those that fail to properly take advantage of these programs and use them in the way intended - then that's on them and they will have to answer for that. Everyone cant and wont be fixed.

But 'our' problems begin with education and family structure. We as a people have no value for education anymore - that has nothing to do with whoever the president is - thats what we value as a community....our value of family is lost - if we dont value education which is the first step in leveling the playing field which is going to remain unlevel for years to come - if we dont have a value in family - how we stick together and help each other - then how can we help our own situation as a community and a people - you got one side that wants to show progress and move forward - another side talking about how 'boogie' that side is and they wanna remain n keep it real n hood - and another side that is lost n dont care either way - and yet n still another side that is just really confused with no direction

In reality it is the rich white male republicans who benefit off of these poor folks more than anyone. That is why they don't want it easy for poor folks to get an education, own houses, get trades and have factory jobs that creates a middle class for these folks. The Democratic Party, Republican Party, Tea Party, First Friday Party - not one of those parties are responsible for the enhancement of inner city School experience or HBCU experience. What in tha hell is the role of the HBCU President/Board of Trustees - school Superintendent/School Board if you think a party is supposed to enhance education rather than the community affected/directly related to the particular educational provider. You have more chance of affecting change working thru your local channels on what you would like to see rather than trying to go top first.

How many Alumni do LSU's have vs. SU? How many programs LSU school offer vs. SU that are considered high paying once you graduate? How many big companies in a Louisiana (for example hire LSU grads over SU's and GSU's)

The reasoning you bring up makes it easy for the REAL crocks "the government" to say.."Yeah.. you heard one of their own people say it.. they don't even give back to that piece of crap of a school we barely fund"....

Stop giving those that are primarily responsible an out.
