Swac Basketball - Post Season (Prairie View)

Thats why you have to go small and run their azz to death. We cant beat them playing their game. The blue print is there, SU 93.

I think that '93 team was capable of making shots that would drop. Today's currents cannot shoot reliably and w/ a greater % from any distance from the rim. Another thing I've noticed is that today's currents cannot fathom "catch and shoot." lol They understand "catch...wait for a defender to close lol...dribble w/ head down ...lets TRY to bull our way to the rim even though it's potentially a 1 on 3 situation lol... and lets not pass the ball effectively to ANY open teammate lol..." I know it's true when I see SWAC teams STRUGGLE MIGHTILY to break a 2-3 zone. Everyone and their momma and daddy in D-1 athletics KNOW the secret to busting a 2-3 zone, all but SWAC teams. :smh:

those kids from that 93 team you can't get in the SWAC anymore....everyone in the SWAC had guards that could light it up then as that year TSU beat a ranked Minnesota squad, JSU had Lindsay Hunter, Valley had Al Ford...

Half of that SU team couldnt shoot. SU shot 29% against GT and won. I have the tape. SU could run and rebound. Jobe's goal was to get up atleast 100 shots per game. If I cant shoot I want to shot as much as possible, not limit my shots, which would require a better percentage to be effective. When we played that style all of our games were competitive. Now we are playing their style and getting blown the f out.

And we stop getting those recruits when we changed the way we played.

I saw the entire game. I was sitting w/ 5 GaTech grads watching @ a sports bar. And, I also saw how CLOSE SU kept the game w/ some shots that were severely ill-timed. :smh:

So, your solution is to let 5 ball-hoggs just "chunk" it up there the best way they know how and pray it drops while hoping to outscore the other squad, who you think you'd run their tongue pallets out by constant run-and-gun-chunk-it-up style, eh? No defense, no nothing. Just become the po' man's Loyola Marymount of the 2000s.

Keep your day job bruh.

That style worked one time, with far better players than we have today. The best we ever shot against any team in the tournament was 41%. It was the basketball equivalent of a chuck and duck football offense.

That's what's wrong with some people. They are stuck in time lol. We must move into the present because the past can't do sh!t for us now lol.

"But fans wanna' be entertained JN99. Damn who actually wins the game. Just as long as our boy DUNKS lol 2-3 times and run-and-gun it while shooting 3-22, we're good brah!"

Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii :retard:

You can't run with these better teams in on the men's or womens.

For men, Just try to out run Kansas..... I dare someone to do that.

For women, try to outrun Tennessee or Connecticut or Baylor. It aint happening.

The year after we beat Tech, we played on ESPN against Tulane or UNO, I can't really remember each one, but I'm leaning towards UNO. What I do remember is watching the game in disbelief that we were losing to a team with half our talent because we were running up and down jacking up shots with no real purpose. They slowed the game down and we looked lost.

UNO, and I went to the game. UNO and SU was about even in talent. Matter of fact, UNO might have had more talent. We only lost by maybe 8 points.

Yall dont understand Jobe's style. Thats the thing, Jobe's team didnt have to shoot well to win.

During that time, SU didnt have great shooters. SU had great rebounders. We will never get great big men. But we can get smaller, quicker players.

BS. Usually we are smaller and quicker than those teams. We damn sure cant slow the game down, and play against their SUperior size.

But you can't run w/ them either JagTilUDead. C'mon now. You thinking you're smaller lineup is gonna' out-quick Kansas, ut-austin, UConn, et al?

I wanna' see this in motion. :emlaugh: Then I'll believe in it.

Yes. A 6-6 center is going to be quicker than a 6-11 center. So you think because you play uptempo basketball, you cant take quality shots.

Your 6'6" center will be covered by a much, MUCH quicker 6'6" guard of theirs. lol I believe their 4 would toast any HBCU 5 any day offensively and defensively. :|

I understand it quite well, it's far less complex than you're implying. You aren't beating quality teams that way very often. Our teams may be smaller, but they damn sure aren't quicker.

They would be if we would recruit quick players.

Can't even recruit kids w/ fundamental skills these days so what makes you think w/ the current crop of coaches/"staff" that's in place they'd do otherwise?

I'm tired of the "what if" scenarios. I want to "what if" see some PINK SLIPS and people being FIRED for non-performance. :)
