Owwwww

All those road games but I like the fact that they balanced them out. It won't be 3 consecutive road games.  I can't wait.

yessir! We get to kick SU's azz early! I think the game will be packed because Stump won't have the chance to be 1-4 again before playing JSU...just 0-2!

“We had a choice of either having a home game or playing in the Atlanta Classic,” LaFleur said.

interesting...

Why is it interesting MH? You already know our ADs are lazy and don't plan years in advance. He would have had to find some D2 team for us to pay to play for a game at home. The Atlanta Classic is something SU fans want because it probably means playing FAMU our longtime rival. So it makes sense to me. Especially since it is an established Classic. It of course makes his job that much easier. He don't have to call a bunch of D2 schools to come to SU for a home game that our fans aint interested in seeing and we can make money by going to this Classic with expenses for the travel covered. He got lucky with this one. No brainer at all. Now we don't have to call a Concordia to visit Baton Rouge.

Why should our "lazy ADS" get a pass for giving up a home game for a game over 500 miles away? Do we allow them to be "lazy" by being happy with the arrangement. Would you make more for a game in Atl than you would one on your own campus in Baton Rouge? Again, it's interesting.

I have a bad feeling JR's response when totally over your head.

I look at it like this: SU has a choice. If a home game means 12K fans like JSU gets vs a D2 then I would def jump on the ATL Classic deal becasue they are paying more than SU would stand to make by bringing in a D2 and paying them.

I think mine went over yours.

TP,
What's the payout in Atl? Thats why I asked the question--will they make more in Atl than Baton Rouge. A few years ago, I was told that the Atl payout sucks (and this was during the time they were drawing in the 60K range)

Uh MH. I think you didn't understand what I meant. Number 1....We know our AD aint that good at all. Number 2, knowing how he aint that good.....he would have scheduled some D3 school and we would have no interest in that home game because it is too late to ask anybody decent to do a game when you can't promise them a return game if they are a FCS school. Hence being stuck with a Concordia or the Boll Weevils. LOL. So yes we would make more going to the ATL. We don't have to worry about paying for security, lights, other stadium expenses etc...just to get maybe 12-14K in the stands. Don't let it rain and it will be worse. Now would it make sense if we could have played FAMU in BR instead of ATL......then yes it would. But that aint the case. Lastly, whenever the SU Board decides they are tired of our AD......I guess he will be gone. Can't speak for all the other schools and their AD situations and how they can rid themselves of those that are incompetent.

Exactly!! Not that I am excusing my AD for getting lucky this time. Now he needs to be working on next year's schedule so we will have an opponent better than a D2 coming to BR.

All HBCU schools

We owed Tn State this game back. You already know after the SWAC schedules the conference games and with us knowing we were going to Nashville. Our chances to get somebody decent for the last OOC game was slim. Getting the ATL Classic is better than playing a PWC D2 school. I would like us to get NW State or SE LA on the schedule.

This what I was thinking as well...MH's just trying to be funny.

huh? I guess a decent discussion can't be had here either.

Do you know the payout for the Atl game? Do you know what yall make on home games? It could be that the payout is Atl is substantially more, I'm just asking if anyone knows what it is.

A while ago, a man once said thinking leads to thinking. (thanks MD)

LOL. I think he is just saying why give up a home game to go on the road. Normally SU would not. But with the way the scheduling is done. The SWAC doing the conference scheduling leaving each school scrambling to get 2 OOC games to fit in certain dates. That makes it hard to schedule a home OOC game against a legit FCS foe that would generate crowd interest. I thought he would catch on to that fact that it is better for SU to go to Atlanta with expenses paid for travel and such and get whatever payout....than to risk a low turn out for a D2 team coming in to BR that you got to pay and then spend money out your budget for the expenses it cost to have a game. Unless we got Tn State, FAMU or somebody decent coming to BR for an OOC game it is a risk hoping the fans pack the house at Mumford to see us play somebody they aint never heard of. Especially now with how the football team has been performing. I am just being real. The Jag Nation will be more interested in us going to the ATL and playing FAMU than to play a nobody in Mumford.
