In the SWAC, “Our limits have been reached,â€￾ says Braddy

When we moved up for a hot minute, our guarantee contracts were for over $3 million per season. Oklahoma was for over $1 million, VT was for almost $1 million and Illinois was for like $700,000. When we moved back down, OU dropped us and the rest of the teams cut their guarantees. We already over 18 sports, so the payment from just three games was more than enough to pay for the additional scholarships and coaches. That does not even get into the other games, marketing opportunities and such we could have used to build better facilities. With the top D1 bball facility we have now and a renovated Bragg (which is coming) we would be on the move.

BTW...Our current AD isnt bullshitting. TP, you said he was your boy. What are you hearing your way?

We are already part of the FCS so it will not cost anything to create a conference.
Then we invite only those schools who have aspirations on moving to FBS.

You mean to tell me JSU, Tenn St., FAMU and 4 others schools (black or white) cannot create our own conference within the FCS. We only need 7 teams to qualify for the FCS playoffs.

Then after a period of time, the whole conference move up to FBS.

Yes it will cost more......you must look at all the additional scholarships per team you must have and also what Title IX stuff you may have to pay. Now don't forget the increase travel budgets you would have just by looking at what schools you think you will have it and they arn't close to eachother.

I can name folks personally that I attend school with and who graduated in 07 with me who are active in their cities alumni chapter and who give back..hell me and my wife are both financially active in our local chapter.......you are stupid if u think someone will put names up for a message board topic, NT gave you the facts and numbers deal with it. There it is we give back but it could be better.....Don't try put JSU in the same category as ur poorly ran school........

I think he needs an actual list... lolol o_O

Not being ugly but the man was not a genius at being AD....so I don't get why we are on page 4 with this foolishness about JSU being beyond the SWAC....I will saying what everbody else is truly thinking....PLEASE...C-USA will eat ya'll alive...no smack intended!

P.S. I admire your spirit though...real talk

Some of these ideas are fantastic but there's 2 prevailing issues that would negate all the positive suggestions:

1. Where would the substantial and bountiful $$$$$$$ originate? If they're not coming in @ the FCS level currently, where would they come from? Please don't say corporate donors because from where I'm looking, it would be an unattractive proposition to support an FCS to FBS move when there are already numerous FBS schools in place w/ numerously more GIVING alumni in place. :wavey:

2. Mentally inept leadership and mentally inept coaching. :| From what I've ascertained lately, HBCU coaching "staff", "ADs," even the presidents and their lack of athletic knowledge aren't mentally capable of directing such a move. *thinking about current SWAC facilities and who has bleachers unfit for a jr high school* I've come to understand why and how certain schools avoid other schools, like a <b>Sam Houston State, Stephen F Austin, McNeese State</b>. The FACTUAL truth would come out how distanced in coaching and athletic student-athlete talent the divide really is so, most HBCU "staff" settle for Lincoln University, Langston, and Concordia while attempting to pull the wool over alum's eyes by attempting to appease them w/ an easy kill. :read: I even look @ the way HBCUs recruit and where they do NOT recruit. Sorry is as sorry does. :smh:

My first time agreeing with you. I must be sick man.:)

My first time agreeing with you. I must be sick man.:)

Don't agree too much It's painfully <b>obvious</b> and has absolutely NOTHING to do w/ race. It's moreso about the mental aspect and their lack thereof. :read: I think someone of the caliber of Rod Broadway would make an <b>excellent</b> FBS HC, and his staff. (no digg, real talk)

This has been on my mind for a while now... but it's a terribly sad indictment when FANS have more football knowledge than some HBCU football "staff." ( where ya' @ <b>"ijuswannaknow?"</b> :emlaugh: ) You're supposed to be a COACHING PROFESSIONAL yet you wreak of being on the mental level of an advanced PE instructor placed on a football field to try and direct/lead others who are looking to you for guidance. There's been too numerous examples of coaching ineptness to discount what I'm saying as fiction. You'd rather spend "time" bullsh*tting scheduling mighty Langston University, mighty Lincoln University, mighty Concordia University, mighty Texas College, mighty Paul Quinn College (if they were available w/ their zero scholarshipped club team :shame: ), mighty Ecclesia College, mighty Schreiner College lol, et al while <b><u>avoiding</u> REGIONALLY beneficial matchups w/ STRONG FCS squads in McNeese State University, Sam Houston State University, Stephen F Austin University, Lamar University, University Central Arkansas, FBS Arkansas State University, et al</b>. The REAL reason you avoid them is because it would be a GREAT public demonstration of the disparity in coaching ability, #1. And #2, it would also show the GREATER divide in athletic talent, which goes back to how HBCU coaches recruit. It's like you guys are stuck in a time warp or something. It's not 1914 anymore, in case you guys on the "chitlin' circuit" didn't know it lol. You can ACTUALLY attempt to recruit kids of non-color these days and they are actually pretty good because they, unlike YOU all, actually attempt to perfect their craft.

I know for a <b>fact</b> this 2011 graduated kid was NOT contacted by Prairie View, ever, IN the backdoor - on the SAME friggin' street (1488-minus several tens of miles separating the two):

However <b>Cal</b> surely did the right thing a few years ago, huh? :swink: 4.4 40, strong as an ox and will get <b>bigger, stronger, and better</b>. We'll be anxiously watching yet ANOTHER back-door home prdct <b>excel</b> @ another university. Not even a single letter of "hey, hi ya' doin'? we'ze ova' hur in case ya' interested..." :retard: RSF Drive-TW is where he works out @ from time to time, along w/ a few other teammates from what I gathered. Even Amendola (Rams) was in there this past summer working out, and y'all treated him like y'all treat ALL blue-chips in the area. Guess that's why it was a foregone conclusion for Amendola to go to Texas Tech and show out huh? :retard: Couldn't help but see him & others in there when I worked out over certain weekends. (past summer) :shame:

while playing SHSU is great and fun.....when Michigan State offers $100K and Big 10 TV slot....your gonna dump them everytime

playing UH and Rice consistently makes more sense for TSU and PV

I think he needs an actual list... lolol o_O

Come on man, yall really are that slow ain't you? That post didn't say anywhere to list names. I said 100 of your friends. That is how slow yall are. For some reason yall sippi cats act like yall gotta prove something. I guess it is just that Sippi water yall drink. Foolishness. :emlaugh:

I can go on and on w/ this shit because I think some of the dumblings, who are on campus, actually think some of the alums are mentally slow. :emlaugh:

Riddle me this... how can a 1st year coach, @ Sam Houston State University, go what... 6-5(?) and place <b>3rd</b> in arguably the toughest of the 2 conferences between the SWAC and SLC when his cupboard was apparently VERY BARE last year almost this time when he was announced as the HC? :emlaugh: The man moved from a JUCO in Kansas (I think?) and came in and <b>INSTANTLY went to work</b>. Recruited smartly, txfers in smartly, and then he won...<b>smartly</b>. THAT, mes amies, is MY idea of what an actual HEAD FOOTBALL COACH and FOOTBALL STAFF should look like w/ <b>expected results</b>-be competitive, while not scheduling Langston, Lincoln, Concordia, Texas College, etc... :smh:

It was best if PV <b>avoided</b> SHSU because SHSU would've broke a BearKat foot in PV's panther ass on the gridiron, yet alone hardwood. Obviously they've <b>consistently</b> broken their foot in PV's ass in 100% of all other sports, including tiddly-winks.

Stay on the chitlin' circuit <b>"ijuswannaknow"</b>. THAT is where you belong because you cannot compete on the REAL FCS/FBS landscape. You're not an Xs and Os mentally capable individual, but rather, your best capability is to TRY and recruit, if you were on a powerhouse FCS/FBS coaching staff.   You know it's true while you're on a "fan-site" <b>learning</b> instead of being in the midst of a REAL coaching staff like that of Univ of Nebraska, Oklahoma Univ, University of Tx, etc to actually master the craft of coaching and all it entails, including finding and landing quality student-athletes . I have 5$ if you cannot afford the ticket to get there. You really need it and the record indicates that you severely lack, because you have no <b>competitive spirit</b> and are rather mentally and physically lazy. For the most part, SWAC alums aren't dumb as some of you ppl make them out to be. We see through this sham y'all are offering/offered.

If we do not move up to the FBS, why would it cost more to start a conference within the FCS? I can understand your point if were moving up to the FBS or a D-II team was moving up to the FCS.

Why would our scholarship requirement change? Last time I check, the FCS limits for football was 63 scholarship per school. Now, I don't know about Basketball, Baseball and other sports scholarships.

We would still offer all Title IX stuff. Why would this change if we move or create a conference within the FCS?

Travel would be minimal if we get schools within the south (MS, AL, TN, FL).

All we would have to do is put the conference headquarters in Florida (no state income tax). :)

would you still turn a profit at the end of the day in FBS?

I think we need to focus on improving on the FCS level before considering moving up to FBS...it would be a nice goal to shoot for (as a conference)
but we first need to win some games against the rest of FCS when possible. However, that's kinda tough to do since we only have 2 ooc slots available and need the FBS money game to offset lack of heavy alumni contributions and low attendance.

I don't want JSU to leave the FCS however I don't believe the SWAC is currently a good fit for us to stay.

That's why I say JSU should move to another conference or just create a new conference with other teams within the FCS!

look at the bottom feeders in the Sun Belt, etc....are they better off in FBS considering they call HBCUs for attendance games?

Esentially they are because they still kick our ass and they still outrecruit us when it counts! Plus, the perks of being in FBS CLEARLY outweigh those in FCS. Seriously, you can't be this blind to realizing that "fringe benefits" that come with status! C'mon son!
