Andrew Luck staying in school

That CBA may be signed before the draft according to the commish. So doesn't it go in effect immediately? So hasn't Luck already missed out?

That right there is probably the "main" reason he decided to stay in school...

or this....NFL Draft Order:

1. Carolina (2-14)
2. Denver (4-12)
3. Buffalo (4-12)
4. Cincinnati (4-12)
5. Arizona (5-11)

I thought he may have wanted to go over there with John Elway...Im sure John would have worked something out with Carolina to get him over there...

Yep. Ole Cooper Manning found out he had that narrowing of the spine while at Ole Miss. No big deal........I'll just become an Attorney and represent my little brothers. LOL. Not to mention Archie and Olivia have plenty of money. I know Archie came from meager means in Drew Ms. But Olivia folks were not poor folks. Her folks owned a store in her hometown. Then of course Archie went on to make good money for his time and did Saints TV stuff. Them Mannings are super loaded now that Eli and Peyton got those mega contracts. Their great grandchildren will be rich. LOL.
yea they own Williams and Brother in Phili MS and Also owns Yates Construction, which is one of the biggest construction companies in the Nation. So this football money is spare change for them.

I believe luck is staying in school because of the Lock out, its like a 80% chance its going to happen.

Pick Andrew Luck with Tim Tebow on the roster? LOL. I thought Mr. Tebow was the savior?

I just hope it doesn't bite him the arse like it's done countless other players that stayed an extra year.

Juke, who has it hurt recently? Especially Qbs? Sam Bradford got hurt and still was number 1 after he came back. It didn't hurt Peyton, Eli, Ryan, etc. Sanchez and Stafford came out early and they aint as polished as the ones that stayed. You see what has happened with Vince. If you are a RB, I can see coming out early since the shelf life of a RB is 4 years and nobody takes a RB as high as they used too. Not when you can luck up on an Arien Foster or LaGarret Blount. LOL. Same for other skill position players. Linemen and the Qbs have been pretty safe to go back to school. Locker may have hurt his stock. He went back and had a terrible year. But his team sucked. So he should left. Luck knows Stanford has players coming back and folks coming in. I am sure whomever takes over from Harbaugh is already on that staff and ready to roll. So in a way this may be better for him looking at all the failures of the Qbs coming out early.

If Harbaugh got the Denver job......Tebow may be on a short leash. LOL. That was Josh McDaniels pick and we see where he is. Tebow has to be sweating bullets on who may end up the next coach. But then again. Maybe the next coach will think Tebow is the answer. He has played decently so far.

Juke we are thinking the same way. I figured they could swap picks and Denver could throw in Kyle Orton with the swap which would give Carolina a decent veteran Qb that can push Clausen to see if Clausen really has the right stuff. Plus you only move down one and still can get Bowers out of Clemson. That would be a win win situation. Then I thought Elway being a Stanford guy and in his new position would push ownership to hire Harbaugh as well. Then Luck could play for Harbaugh. Poor Tebow would have to battle Luck to see who would win out.

But swapping those pics would be good for both teams especially if Harbaugh was the coach in Denver. But I think Luck knows something we don't. I really believe Harbaugh is wanting the San Fran job then he don't have to move from Northern Cali. With the Debartolo's nephew taking over from his dumb owner parents.....he may go back to old spending SF ways. Which would be good for Harbaugh. If Luck knows Harbaugh aint going to take any of those jobs like Carolina or Denver. He may have said I am taking my arse back to school and take my chances next season when hopefully some other team that is a better fit is at the top.

Locker may have hurt his stock. He went back and had a terrible year. But his team sucked. So he should left.

Oh, I luv it when folks ask a question and answer it in the same post.

Heck, the Texans have a QB on the roster, now, that's stock was hurt by staying an extra year. Heisman and all.

I didn't say every player that's gone back has been hurt by it. Nor, did I say it would be a BIG drop. But, there are PLENTY of QB's that have hurt their own stock going back a year.

Lienart was still a first round pick and he didn't hurt his stock. He had a great Sr year and was a Heisman candidate again. Bush just had a better year. Nobody talked about Lienart being the overall number 1 Qb. There were doubts about him the whole time. And we can see why. Fisher was the only one who wanted him. LOL.

Locker was a reach anyway. He wasn't going to be the first pick last year. In his case when you have a sorry team he should have left. Luck doesn't have a sorry team. I explained that scenario in my post. Again Sam Bradford, Peyton Manning, Eli Manning all were told they were dumb for going back. Look at them now. PAID IN FULL.

Locker would have been exposed at the combine. Sooner or later you get exposed. All he can do is run and he has regressed every year. So the trend was there. With all that being said. He still is going to be a 1st round pick and if he has a good combine or All Star game. He may shoot back up to the top now that Luck is not coming out and Ryan Mallet stopped dropped after the Sugar Bowl.

I don't think money is really a big deal for him. He comes from a rich family. His dad is a former NFL QB and the AD at West Virginia.

He was also a Rhodes Scholar finalist, so he's giving his son some good advise.

Bingo. Luck is not a poor kid either. His Dad is the current WVA AD and former NFL backup Qb for the Oilers. Not to mention he ran the Dynamos Soccer team in Houston. The Lucks have money. He is doing just like Peyton did. Stay in school. When you aint desparate to get the NFL like most kids. You can do this. Luck is going to be rich one way or the other. The question is just how rich. LOL.

Yep and he actually went to a public high school.

A guaranteed 1st round pick and you go back to school? I dont give a damn how much money his FAMILY got. He has to be one the dumbest Americans alive right now.

I wouldn't go so far as to say Andrew Luck is dumb for wanting to finishing his education first, and having one more year of fun playing college ball before football officially becomes work.

There are worse decisions 20-year-old kids can make than deciding to graduate college. Heaven forbid kids turn down riches to graduate college. :scared:

The next thing you know college kids will start practicing abstinence. :scared: Then what will we do?

For some people it ain't about money. We get on youngsters these days all the time for being narcissistic and losing perspective in life.

Andrew Luck did the opposite and now he's being called dumb?

Is he taking a risk by not entering the draft? I suppose so. However, I think we should respect his decision.

Exactly. Not to mention if the lock out goes longer than expected he won't see any of that money until who knows when.

you can always get an education......you cant always be the #1 draft pick in the NFL...you get an education to make money right??? He is turning down millions right now to go back to school. He only has a year left in school.... thats two summer school classes. What if he gets hurt? Ok you say he has an education to fall back on.. u think he will make ANYWHERE as much money as he has the chance to make now? You say his parents got money..... AND.... what about his kids.... u take a chance on them having to depend on Grandads money?

In life there are no guarantees either way. Sam Bradford did the same thing as Luck in deciding to play his senior season. Bradford separated his shoulder twice, did not play much his senior season and still ended up the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft.

Tommy Maddox came out early from college as a 20-year-old. Busted out and ended up selling insurance before turning 30. Fortunately, he got another opportunity with Pittsburgh and had a resurgence before being replaced by Big Ben.

If Luck is as good as every NFL scout has said, barring a career threatening injury or death, more than likely he will be No. 1 pick come 2012.

If the worst thing that happens to Andrew Luck in life is only getting a degree from Stanford (without having to pay student loans) instead of making millions in the NFL, then he will be a blessed person.

I can guarantee Stanford will still be there after he finishes playing....

But we can't guarantee that will be a full NFL season or an NFL season at all next year. What if Luck would have gone to the draft and not only get drafted to a sorry arse team like Carolina but also had to sit a half or full season without playing? Not to mention that if there is a lock out that means nobody gets paid.

he ain't hurting for cash...His dad has enough contacts in all of sports to give him a high figure job without using that degree....Oliver (dad) has hooked up average white guys with less education and expereience than brothas with high positions

Does Cam Newton need the loot: :emlaugh:

Exactly. Luck is going to be fine. He consulted with Peyton Manning who did the same thing and he talked with Bradford before making his decision. Like you said Luck will get a six figure job right out of school if he gets hurt and can't play. He will do the same thing others have who waited until they graduated or eligibilty was up. You hit the nail on the head.

Thats what rich white folks do. So yeah his kids can depend on Grandaddy's money. Ask the Bush kids.

Luck is doing the same thing Peyton Manning did. Actually Peyton was crazier. Because he actually was done with undergrad when he went back for his last year of school. He was in grad school his Sr season at Tenn. But went back to win a National Championship that never materialized until he left. LOL. Tee Martin send help. Those white boys with money think differently than we do. It is principal of the matter for them and in the long run. Oliver Luck is going to be rich regardless if he plays football or not. His family is going to be set with him earning a million of dollars in corporate america or 50 million playing football. Because Luck is going to get paid in the real world because he has connections like all rich smart white boys with degrees from Stanford. Dude is majoring in Architectural Design. So you know some big time firm with Stanford alums will hire him at some insane salary if he can't play ball. Their playing field is totally different from a black athlete who comes from a different background and need that money to get all of his family out of poverty.

I totally agree. I wish some of our African-American athletes would have this mind set. I understand that we are not in the Luck financial situation, but at the same time, have a plan b in case you don't make it.
