Is it possible that the NFC West won't have a Team in the playoffs

With the two top teams in the division standing at 5-6, is it possible that the NFL may elect to not send an NFC representative to the playoffs?

Unfortunately, they have to send a rep from that division. What's even worse is the fact that a winner from that division will host a wild card playoff game against a team with a better overall record...

It will definitely be a sad day in the NFL if the rep in that division host a game with a 7-9 record...

The NFC West is a bad division to say the least, but I see no problem with a team from there making the postseason. I mean, it rarely happens that a division winner would be at .500 or below. I don't see the NFL doing anything about it. The 8-8 Chargers hosted the 12-4 Colts back in 2008. The Brady-less Patriots that year went 11-5 and did not make the playoffs.

You can't penalize them for it......

For the last few years there has been a team or two that has had a better or even record from the Swac West than the Swac East.

But at the rate they're going they may be below .500, so that's really my question.

What does the NFL do then?

Hey! LOL!!!! You dont have to bite my head off man. LOL!!!!!!!!!! I just asked a question. The rules are the rules.

BB stop the drama and simply give your input if you have something to say about the topic other then what you've said so far.

Well the cardinals beat the saints so that shows the parity.also, an NFC west team hosting in a playoff atmosphere can be a recipe for an upset.......case in point, what the cardinals did to a hot Green bay team last year.

Nothing. It lets the cards fall as they may. They put the system in place. They need role with the good and the bad. You don't change the rules of the game in the middle of a season.

Nothing. There is no rule that says a team has to finish with a winning record to make the playoffs or win the division. You might hear an outcry from some circles, but not much to create change.

When New England finished 2008 11-5 and did not make the postseason some suggested the league just take top six teams from both conferences to ensure 8-8 or 7-9 teams don't take a spot away from a team with a winning record . But then you would have to get rid of divisions. I just don't see that happening.

People always want to change the rules to benefit them. smh.

David Stern did. Remember a few years ago right before the NBA playoffs started he announced all first-round series would be extended to a best-of-seven from a best-of-five?

Disclaimer: This is just a question pose for food for thought, no one is trying to change any rules to benefit anyone.

My team belong to the stronger division in the NFC

When the Cardinals get rid of Derek Anderson azz and Bill Davis then we will be back to winning the division but until then. This team better not even think about the damn playoffs or a division title. Get ready for the damn draft.

DA is horrible bruh. I felt bad for yall last night.

They can't do anything this year. It would have to go the competition committee and then they would have to recommend the rule changes to the owners who then would have to vote on it. So the earliest it can happen to change the rules is this off season. Nothing can be done this season. They have to abide by the rules that govern the 2010-11 season/playoffs.

That's one of the reasons the NBA is an inferior product to the NFL. Stern gets to do too much without any opposition. No way Goodell could get the owners to vote on that in the middle of the season. You already know the whole NFC West ownership would say no. LOL. So would the AFC West owners just in case one of their teams wins with a 9-7 record. Which is possible. It has happened before. My Steelers made the post season back in the 80s with a 9-7 record. The AFC Central was just horrid that one year.

ON all levels that needs to be looked at....Better teams should play.. Sadder teams should STAY .."at home"...
