Prairie View elevates Northern to coach in-waiting

I still don't see the point. He probably would be the front runner regardless. Also, PV has been able to stay ahead of the curve because somebody over there is recruiting. Can Northern recruit? Frazier seems to be the 3rd best recruiter in the league.

This "announcement" y'all are hearing was made many months ago. *SMH*

Coach N and fam loves the area and obviously they've developed a love for PVAMU as well. :read: HCIW.

That's right P he loves it more then his home, that's why he applied for the SU job so that he could become HNIC in waiting.

He saw what he needed to see during that "process" blue. True, he wants to be a HC so that's no secret and a lot of us were pulling for him to get the SU job. However, that "process" taught him and showed us outsiders that intelligence isn't really common these days on certain campii. :emlaugh: :swink:

I speak frequently w/ him. Maybe you all should hear some of his "feelings" about that "process" and how things work @ SU. Just sayin'. :swink:

LMAO @ The SWAC just getting this news..... Duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :retard:

I hope Northern doesnt fall for this little trick.
PV can see how poorly SUs defense is and they know there will be a push to
replace SUs current DC. This HC in waiting might be just a little ploy to keep
Northern around after this season.

To this day I still don't know why, so many of you actually believe you know more about the SU family then SU family does.

It's truly amazing and one of the greatest mysteries ever.

I only know of what I'm told by SUites, like Mr Northern. :)

He'll be @ the game Sat. Ask him. Not sure if he'll publicly be "PC" or not though. Afterall, he has a head coaching job waiting for him @ the FCS level w/ new athletic facilities soon to be erected shortly. Also, don't forget that Mr Frazier, III, not coach Frazier, III :), is about to receive his PhD shortly (next semester). *whistling*

Let me rephrase it. What makes you think that we haven't heard his feeling? He I is one of ours.

That same process that he is disappointed with, is the same process that he was using to get a job ahead of two coaches with nfl experience, one proven on the college level, and three other proven coaches all with head coaching experience , of which he was asking equal pay and in at least two cases more.

What Heis need do is not put himself in a position to run in to a dead end job listening to bad advice I.E. Rusty Ponton.

"dead end job?"

Prairie View A&M good fit for Northern

Staying put results in tag of coach in waiting

Prairie View A&M defensive coordinator Heishma Northern admits that the university and surrounding area have grown on him and his family.

Northern, who has been at Prairie View since 2005, enjoys living in the Houston area. His wife, Paula, an engineer, has a partnership with the university's engineering program, and their young son, Adam, regularly attends practice and is on a first-name basis with several of the players and marching band members. Plus, Northern has had virtually free rein to build one of the best defenses in the Football Championship Subdivision.

Thus, Northern is in no rush to leave the Panthers for another job.

Fortunately for Northern, he might not have to leave town any time soon. Prairie View named Northern head coach in-waiting Wednesday, meaning that he'll be the program's next coach should Henry Frazier III depart for another team within the next three years.

Northern said that the designation, which does not include a pay raise, simply solidifies his commitment to Prairie View.

"I'm not a 'job chaser,'" said Northern, who was a finalist for Southern University's head coaching vacancy in the offseason. "I'm always looking for the best situation and the best fit for me and my family. Being in Houston and particularly being at Prairie View is a great fit for not only myself, but for my wife and my son.

"A lot of people, when (talking) about coaching jobs, all they think about is the coach. But it's much bigger than me."

Given the Panthers' successful track record over the last few seasons, there's the increasing possibility that Frazier, or even Northern, will be lured away by another program.

Prairie View is 29-9 since 2007, including back-to-back 9-1 campaigns and a Southwestern Athletic Conference title in 2009. At 4-3 this season with five regular-season games remaining, the Panthers are in good position to capture their fourth consecutive winning season.

Frazier, who has three binding years left on his contract, said that he has no plans to depart in the offseason, but he praised athletic director Fred Washington and university president George C. Wright for their forward thinking on the matter of picking a possible successor.

"It's no secret that I've turned down a job every year I've been at Prairie View," said Frazier, who is 40-29 in six-plus seasons with the Panthers. "I don't want to leave, and I'm not looking to leave, but that is a possibility when you've been as successful as we've been. … I still have a three-year contract, and things are looking good, but I think it's definitely a smart move on the administration's part."

P I can appreciate your giddiness over what's happing at PV after 30 plus yrs or so being the champion in wait, but what does any of that has to do with a dead end job?

Frazier isn't going anywhere and y'all damn sure aren't sending him anywhere or do I need to explain what the term dead end means?

But blue, who's to say that he will actually stay for those remaining 3 years? :read:

PhD in Athl Admin something or another spr 2011. Offers falling out the sky man. :read: When I heard that Univ of Minn fired ol' boy, my heart sunk (again!!!!!!). Shit, truth be told, everytime I see this symbol --> aTm, I shudder a lil' bit. :emlaugh:

Bottom line, it's not a "dead end position" blue.

Speaks volumes. :smh:
