Bethune Cookman Making Noise...Lots of Noise!

When you play the likes of Edward Waters, Savannah State, Norfolk State and Morgan State, a 4-0 record is not all that impressive, not by a longshot.

Do they still run the flexbone?

LOL. You mean the Wyattbone. No, they fired Alvin Wyatt and have a new coach. He was an offensive assistant at Rutgers. Then he hired former SU OC Mark Orlando as his OC. So I assume they are throwing a lot. Wyatt had talent at BCU but just ran that Wyattbone stuff instead of opening up his offense. But he had the athletes. I am sure he left the cupboard full. The new head coach is from Ft. Lauderdale and Orlando went to Florida State. Should be a good match for them recruiting kids in Florida.

Well damn just shot me now, I agree with JayRob and was only opening the thread to say the same thing!

Thank you.
You get past SCSU and the MEAC ain't worth a damm. Throw in they playing evey year loser Savannah State and Edward Waters, you should score a lot of points. BCC other opponents so far Nolfolk St has played sorry NCA@T and D2 Virginia College for their wins. Morgan St beat 0 and forever HOWARD and Bowie St. Nothing to write home about.

I watched 2 MEAC games this past week. :retard: Hampton/Deleware St and SCSU/FAMU. I wanted to poke my eyes out. I switched from the Hampton game Thursday night and watched the OSU/Texas A@m game. It was awful trust me.

Regardless of who they have played...they have played them successfully. The level of competition might not be that great, but they beat a decent Norfolk State team who competed well (for a half) against Rutgers of the Big East.

a glance at BC's roster shows 36 players with 3 or more years of experience (including 3 rs soph and 3 rs seniors). yall can take em lightly, but I'm impressed with this start. Veteran kids (once they get a taste of success) can make for a tough opponent. Now that they've put up 69 points, you can best believe they are "believing" in the new staff. This is very similar to what happened when Richardson came to SU back in 93. A Veteran laden team that had underachieved, caught fire and went on a championship winning streak.

Shine Wyatt had talent. And he recruited well. Had a few NFL guys from BCU. But his deal was he wouldn't hire him an OC and get rid of the Wyatt bone. That is what held him back. When he had good Qbs to run that offense like Suber and Troutman. His teams did well. He needed a Denard Robinson type kid to run that kind of offense. But we all know those type of kids don't grow on trees. I assume they are running some type of spread offense or what Rutgers runs.

MB, I don't know where you're going with this, but hopefully it's not too far. Maybe MEAC folks will believe in BC. Instead of jumping at an opportunity to play at least ONE quality team before meeting South Carolina State, they chose Edward Waters?!

BC gets no props here for that.

Not trying to go anywhere...it's simply a discussion of another HBCU football team. Everythng doesn't have or need to have an angle. Man, you need to relax and maybe take a laxative (lol)

aint that the truth..
I watched that Hampton-Del. State that was on ESPNU a couple weeks ago & that had to be the worst display of football i've ever seen at the college level

That may be true and actually, I agree...but I till think that what Bethune Cookman has done thus far is worthy of recognition. 4-0 and in impressive margins has them legit in my eyesight. If the start to lose, they lose their legitimacy with me...

SC State is good...I think they're the best over there. Not certain they could win the SWAC, but likewise I'm not certain any team from over here could win the MEAC.

We've played some sorry teams, and we havent put up those numbers. SO for now its props to BCC.

Basically..

maybe MB should have added a "side note" talking about the improvements JSU made for "you know who" to be completely satisfied with this thread...

I love Orlando's offense @ SU, I just couldnt stand his play calling. Still cant get over that QB Draw he called at the end of PV game with no time outs :smh: .

Valley could beat 3 out of the four teams BC has played. Who can't put up 50 or 60 on an NAIA school like Edward Waters? I'll give more substance to Valley's schedule so far than to BC's schedule.

And to think that they're ranked ahead of several teams in the SWAC in a couple of polls for wins over Morgan State and Edward Waters who gave up 53 points to an unknown Brevard College?!

I'll be more than happy to give BC credit when they beat a quality team.
