JR, what makes you so sure that the info you put your trust in (archeologists, research) isnt lies? I mean i find it mighty strange that you put your trust in folks who will lie about anything to appear to be the 1st at anything.....

You do know how far man might go to try to cover his tracks right?

I could ask you the same exact thing about the bible. How do you know the bible isn't mostly full of lies? Has it been peer reviewed by independent sources? Yes it has. Guess what, it's failed time and time again.

On the other hand, archaeologist have to put forth evidence that's concrete, that's peer reviewed, that's tested and scrutinized by independent parties. This is how science works. Once can't simply say that this is evidence without independent sources having investigated and tested the original findings.

I'd have more confidence in that particular method than having to blindly put my trust/faith in a book that's based on mere beliefs.

The bible has been reviewed time and time again and has been found to be totally inconsistent in areas. Science is based on logic, reason testing, etc., while belief in the bible is based on mere faith.

Having been in the Air Force, we do not call aircrafts “Birds” we call them by their code name!

You're a liar.........

For those who don't know. In the US Navy, you can earn your "WINGS" after you get through flight training at NAS Meridian. This is called a "WINGING" ceremony for US Navy pilots. Watch the officer in the video earn his "WINGS", pinned on his chest by his wife in the Chapel. Why do US Navy pilots earn metal wings, and what does it symbolize? These pilots fly "METAL BIRDS", and these birds have metal wings........that simple.

Where does is state that angles were created in the likeness of angels. Now according to Genesis 1:26, 27. “Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.â€￾

Nowhere in the bible does it state that man was created in the likeness of angles, post the scripture.

Who is the "OUR/US" is God referring to DH? Is God talking to Himself? Is not US/OUR plural? Do those words not mean more than one?

No, don't change anything you've taken from pagan doctrine because in essence, Christianity's mostly pagan anyhow because that's where it's derived. There are some good things attached to Christianity like love and service, but that other stuff is mostly fable and derived from other religions.

Stop playing games with God and join the brethren. We want to see you in heaven enjoying the gift of salvation with the saints. Call on Him JayRob and be blessed!

RB, I KNOW you read my above post disputing Matthew's prophecy taken from Isaiah 7. I'm sure you understood it as well, that's why you didn't comment on it. There's truth to it, truth that you can't refute or you obviously would've tried. If you can refute it and prove it to be untrue, PLEASE do so. I welcome you to do so. My mind is open to learning, how about yours?

JayRob, I read that you formed a false opinion about Matthew. In fact, the entire bible is false to you, so what's your point?!

Not only do I know it, but I believe you do to. Again, show me that my post is untrue.

I showed you, but you refuse to listen. I'm sticking to the word as Christ instructed. You're doing everything you can to draw people away from the word of God. That sounds like something similar to what Satan did with the angels, you know, lead billions away from God. Why do you wish to continue in Satan's footsteps? What did God ever do to you?

So who was Christ praying to when he was on the cross? Who supposedly raised him up? If what you're saying is true, that they were the same PERSON, this has to mean that Christ was never dead to begin with simply because a dead man can't raise himself from the dead.

Again, what part of the following don't you understand? Matthew 1:23 clearly state "they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us."

RB, you took one verse from Isaiah 7:14 without combining it with the verses before and after it. That's how you do research in the bible. Isaiah was talking about a woman giving birth to a child, then naming him Immanuel (meaning "god is with us"), to show Ahaz that the prophecy was to come to pass about two kings being defeated. The prophecy came to pass during Ahaz's time.
Whomever wrote the book of Matthew simply took a verse and falsely used it to predict Jesus's coming. That verse has long ago proven to be wrong. Matthew 1:23 has nothing to do with a prohecy concerning Jesus.

Again, it will be impossible for you to see this if you're not a believer. The following verses will prove Christ was spoken of in the great book of Isaiah(Esaias). Mat 4:14, Mat 8:17, Mat 12:17, Mat 13:14, Luke 4:17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,

Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

Luke 4:19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

Luke 4:20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.

Luke 4:21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

Christ was quoting Isaiah 61, Christ purposely did not finish verse 2 because that day has not been fulfilled.

Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

Isaiah 61:2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

No misery or hate here because it makes no sense at all to hate something that's fiction.

He's real JayRob, and He loves you. Return that love to your Creator, and receive His blessings.

Who is the "OUR/US" is God referring to DH? Is God talking to Himself? Is not US/OUR plural? Do those words not mean more than one?

Have we not discussed this before? I know you are stuck on Genesis 1:26. Prior to 1:26, where does it mention “angels†only in 1:2 does it mention “someone†other than God. The Spirit of God is not an angel. So you have to cross reference scriptures to find out more during the creation “John 1:3 – All things were made by [Jesus] which is God in the flesh†So the creators has to be the Godhead and we were made out of the image of God.
Again, you have proven that you understanding of the Hebrew [grammatical] is lacking.

Referring, back to 1:1

The Hebrew word translated "God" ('elohim) is a plural noun, as is the word us [personal pronoun]. The though it is a plural in form, it is singular in meaning when referring to the true God. The word “us†refers to the Godhead, not angles, because they are not part of the “us†Why, that would make them equal to God. If were made out of the similitude of the angles, that mean we as humans, would meet the same destination, as the other angles that sinned against God.

Jayrob, what you have done is blindly put your faith in man (archaeologist) and your understanding of how science works......follow me if you can.

What came first the chicken or the egg? can you say because science cant prove it either way that neither chickens nor eggs exist?

this science, these men, these facts that you put your trust in are so grossly manipulated to control peoples thoughts and ideas, just like the bible does.......but I'll give you the difference. The bible gives a promise of everlasting life for those follow Christ. What do these Archeologist promise you when you die?
You see science and facts are incomplete pieces to a puzzle that have no merit once you die. This earth as you know it will die in time just like every other living thing on the face of the earth. But Jay, there is an afterlife experience. Science, logic, and experiemnts cant prove it, and the techonology of our lifetime wont be able to prove it either....but I hope for your sake that that in your fight to prove God wrong, youre actually right.
You see, off your logic, we dont lose either way. But if were right Jay and youre not, you wont even be able to rest in peace.....It is better to be wealthy and talk about the rich fools than to be poor and envy others wealth.

You did right to IGNORE the part about Christianity coming from pagan religions. You can't refute it, so ignore it and focus on some trivial matter. That's how the defeatists do it.

JayRob, I read that you formed a false opinion about Matthew. In fact, the entire bible is false to you, so what's your point?!

No, Matthew lied and tried to say that Isaiah 7:14 referred to Jesus being called "emanuel", when it meant nothing of the sort. You ignored that too because you can't refute it.
You guys are becoming experts at diverting when you can't refute something. It's funny, but it's sad at the same time.

I gave you a detailed lecture of what the entire story in Isaiah 7 was about. I showed you when it was fulfilled. You can't refute it, so you just sit there and lie and tell me you told me when you know you did nothing of the sort.

The issue is not pulling folks away from religion, it's encouraging folks to learn to "THINK FOR THEMSELVES" and to do their own research and stop gullibly believing parents, friends, religious folks just because they have a title or wear a robe or have some form of authority.
As far as leading folks away, your OT god seems to have had no problem in driving away his own people with his tyrannical demands and serious anger issues. 99 percent of OT folks ran away from the OT god.....NINETY-NINE PERCENT!!!! WOW!!! Let that sink in for a minute.

Again, what part of the following don't you understand? Matthew 1:23 clearly state "they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us."

And what part don't you understand that Isaiah 7:14 means nothing like what Matthew says? Matthew is a liar and a fraud. Your own book proves that. You're just either too "caught up" or too arrogant to see it and admit it.

And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written...

Again, another diverting to other verses that have absolutely nothing to do with the lie told by Matthew about Isaiah 7:14. Like I said earlier, when you find yourself in a bind, divert to something trivial, that has absolutely nothing to do with the subject being talked about.

And folks have the mindset to call the bible "god's inspired word?!" With a god this incompetent, you may want to seriously call into question other portions of the bible that are questionable. There's LOTS to choose from.
This one verse that YOU mistakenly chose, is a prime example of the many errors, lies and inconsistencies in the bible that people either don't know about or simply choose to ignore.
Thanks for pointing that verse out though.

I have faith in science? What do YOU have faith in? A book filled with errors, inconsistencies, impossible miracles, fables, unfulfilled prophecies, cities that never existed, events that never existed, works from other religions....yet you have the NERVE to question where my faith is? Are you serious?

Science HAS proven life after death. Science is based and predicated on evidence. I've even posted the evidence in several posts. Too bad you missed the posts. I'm way, way ahead of you when it comes to the afterlife and evidence of it.

Religion, especially Christianity is based on what? A belief in something that hasn't been proven, that one has to take ON FAITH....hoping that it's true. Religion is basically the opposite of science.

Here's where the old saying holds true...."a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush".

Religion, my friend, is not so opposite of science as you may suggest....but more along the lines of the governing premise of science. Had it not been for mans attempt to be God and rule the world in the 1st place, your science would have no life.
Had it not been for the God that gave man the ability to think and articulate at the level it presently could have, you and i both could have the understanding of a muskrat.
Had it not been for the notion that God created us all, there be no arguement or premise for the evolution theory or the big band theory.
Had God not specifically set the balance for earth as it revolves around the sun, neither you nor i could even begin to question the speed of light, sound, or force or mass or any other scientific expression you could come up with.
So what a man has found 10 things to be inconsistent with how he thinks the world operated before he was born.....how about looking at the inconsistances within himself. surely logic says "a no is a no is a no." right? Negate the bible for being inaccurate (in your opinion) but praise man who at his best is still filled with flaws, unaccomplished dreams and promises, sexual immorality, and hatred? And again you put your faith in what?

DH, listen to God in the verses below. He's telling us that angels were present, rejoicing, and singing praise to God........during the creation. In other words, they were there when it was going down. If that be the case, then surely this must be the "US/OUR" God is referring to in Genesis. God made humans in the exact "physical build" as He and the angels. What is an "IMAGE"?

Job 38 (King James Version)

Job 38:1 Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said,

Job 38:2 Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?

Job 38:3 Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me.

Job 38:4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.

Job 38:5 Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?

Job 38:6 Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof;

Job 38:7 When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

Yes, they were present during the creation. However, those scriptures do not support the “usâ€￾. If God created the angles in the same physical build as humans, there is a problem with this statement. If that was so, should humans be able to perform the same as angles, just to name a few.

Angles are sexless

Angles are not limited by time and space

Angle’s physical strength is limitless “stronger than menâ€￾ Ps 103:20; 2 Peter 2:11

They are greater than men - 2 Sam. 14:20

Angles can “take onâ€￾ various forms

Angles are “ministering spirits,â€￾ – Hebrews 1:14 and do not have physical bodies like humans. Jesus declared that “a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me haveâ€￾ – Luke 24:37

“No flesh or bonesâ€￾ how could they be like humans

Does angles always appear as men

Does angles have wings

Since angels are spirits rather than physical beings, they don't have to be visible at all – Co. 1:16. Elisha prayed that his servant would see the armies of angels surrounding the city, and the young man discovered that he had overlooked a lot of invisible beings – 2 Kings 6:17
Note: if they were the same as humans, how could they be overlooked?

So you comments does not support the “usâ€￾

Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

DH, it's not that hard.

Forget “Websterâ€￾ exegete the scriptures in the original Hebrew Text.
"Image" and "likeness" are synonymous terms. Both indicate personality, moral, and spiritual qualities that God and man share (self-consciousness, God-consciousness, freedom, responsibility, speech, moral discernment, etc.)

Note: God does not have eyes, a nose or ears. Although, the scriptures often refer to Him as having human features – those are {antropmoric “spâ€￾ language } which is used only to describe God in order that man can relate to what’s being saidâ€￾

This is what distinguish humans from the animals, which have no God-consciousness even though they have conscious life (24).

Are you calling Christ a lie? Christ states that He and God look exactly alike, and if you've seen the Son Christ, then you've seen the Father God. Why is that hard for you to understand? Folks like you gone have a crazy look on your face when you get to heaven, and see that God actually has a physical body, and He's not some spook out in space. Why would a spirit have a throne to sit on if it doesn't have a body?

How can you say forget the definition of a word? Who are you to tell a person not to get understanding of a common word?

The correct spelling of the word is anthropomoric

Dont mis-understand what I said. You can define words from here to eternity, but if you do not have the bible unserstanding of the context of the scripture, definitions are worthless. The word image like the word love has several definitions and 99.99% of the time the way we understand the word is not what the context of the scriptures mean.

That's why I asked you to exegete the scriptures.

Are you calling Christ a lie? Christ states that He and God look exactly alike, and if you've seen the Son Christ, then you've seen the Father God.

I am calling you a lie as it relates to your understanding of the scriptures. Christ, is speaking on a spiritual level, this scripture has nothing to do with Jesus "eyes, nose, throat or face"

The scriptures states the following:

Jesus wept (John 11:35), slept (Mark 4:35), hungered and thirsted (John 4:6-7).

God doesn’t tire, doesn’t sleep, doesn’t thirst and doesn’t get hungry (Psalm 50:7-13, 121:3-4; Isaiah 40:28).

Being human Jesus got tired and slept. Yet since he is also God, He stripped part of His attributes of God to be born of woman and live among humans.

Now I understand why you follow Murray, both of you are ignorant and clueless as it relates to the bible "Birds of a Feather" Yes you can quote scripture "like the demons" but you are lacking in your understanding of elementary scriptures of the bible.

That's why I asked you to exegete the scriptures.

That's "YOUR" interpretation of what that particular scripture means.......not mine. If we want to know what kind of being God is, who better to believe than those who have actually seen the Father? For example, Ezekiel 1:26 And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it, or, Revelation 4:2 And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne, or, Exodus 33:22 And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by: Exodus 33:23 And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.

Clearly, those who have actually seen the physical body of God have proven you to be wrong. As a Christian that utilizes common sense, I must agree with those who have previously testified of seeing God in His physical body. A fool would choose to differ from the testimony of the Prophets.

I am calling you a lie as it relates to your understanding of the scriptures. Christ, is speaking on a spiritual level, this scripture has nothing to do with Jesus "eyes, nose, throat or face"

Again, that's your interpretation, why can't it be that not only is Christ speaking on the spiritual, but the actual appearance of He and God? Who are you to say Christ wasn't speaking about both, as if you know more than Christ? It just proves that your elevator doesn't quite top out.........

Religion, primarily the Christian religion, is based on faith. Do you not deny it? Science is primarily based on evidence, do you deny that?

Had it not been for mans attempt to be God and rule the world in the 1st place, your science would have no life.

What's wrong with man trying to progress with the help of science? Without science, we'd still be thinking the earth revolved around the sun; we'd still be believing that evil spirits caused diseases; there would be no major discoveries or developments such as the automobile, the computer, the airplane, the telescope, of bacteria and viruses and so much more.
Your above statement makes no sense at all. Just because mankind is striving for progress doesn't mean that he's calling himself any god. Besides, people are free to call themselves what they please, but it doesn't make it so. If you don't agree with the progress man has made, why are you enjoying one of them by typing on it.....the computer?

Had it not been for the God that gave man the ability to think and articulate at the level it presently could have, you and i both could have the understanding of a muskrat.
Had it not been for the notion that God created us all, there be no arguement or premise for the evolution theory or the big band theory.
Had God not specifically set the balance for earth as it revolves around the sun, neither you nor i could even begin to question the speed of light, sound, or force or mass or any other scientific expression you could come up with.

Had it not been for "what" god? Thousands of religions have claimed that THEIR god is the creator. How did you come to the conclusion that out of the thousands and thousands, that it's YOUR god who is the actual creator?
How do you know that the Old Testament god is responsible for any creation? How do you know that the bible wasn't copied from previous religions? How do you know that the bible isn't a man-made document?

With your guessing that the god of the bible is the actual "creator" of everything you mentioned, you're no further ahead than any of the other religious folks who claim that their god is the "true" god.
You gave NO evidence, just opinions. Until you give actual evidence that's credible and reliable, all you have are mere opinions and guesses.

How can you sit there and honestly criticize mankind for being inconsistent when the book you seem to claim is NOT inconsistent is littered with them? The bible is the master book of inconsistencies. In addition to that, it's flawed, it's full of unfulfilled prophecies, it's racist, it degrades women, promotes genocide, shows favoritism, teaches hypocrisy, presents ludricous miracles, is inconsistent with proven science, is contradictory, was copied from other religions, promotes murder, violence and so much more of the worst kinds of behaviors known to man?

How can you objectively criticize mankind for simply following after the image of their own Old testament god you claimed created them?
If you're going to criticize mankind for his inconsistencies, you need to begin with the "god" you claim created him, and you must start with the book called the bible, since it's supposed to be mankind's guide.

What are you talking about!

If we want to know what kind of being God is, who better to believe than those who have actually seen the Father?

No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father's side, has made him known: John 1:18.

“But He [God] said, "You cannot see My face, for no man can see Me and live !" Exodus 33:20

Sitting on the throne high above the expanse was a figure that looked like a man (Exod.24:10; Rev. 4:2).

Notice the words "Look Like" does not necessarly mean that it was a man!

Rev. 4:2, ok what's your point! God as a "person figurative" can sit on a literal throne, He has a Spiritual Body and exactly what a spiritual body look like no no ones knows.

No one has seen God, Holy Spirit or Jesus in their true essence (Spiritual Body)

Question: If what you are saying is true, why did the disciples fail to recognize Jesus as he walked on water.

DH, I'm talking about the physical body of God. My point is that God has a physical body, and some of the Prophets have testified to this fact. Did they see the face of God, no, but they saw His physical form, and that physical form looks like the form of a man. The difference between God and us, is that God is super natural.........we're not. Humans take on the same "Image/Form" as God and the angels. We all have the same form, but are created from a different substance. It's like putting a plantain and a banana side by side, and clearly seeing that a plantain is not a banana, but they have genuine similarity/likeness/form.

What is a Plantain? Plantains vs. Bananas?

What is a Plantain? • The Difference between Plantains & Bananas

Many people confuse plantains with bananas, some of the differences are noted above. Although they look a lot like green bananas and are a close relative, plantains are very different. They are starchy, not sweet, and they are used as a vegetable in many recipes, especially in Latin America and Africa. Plantains are sold in the fresh produce section of the supermarket, they usually resemble green bananas; ripe plantains may be black in color. Plantains are longer than bananas and they have thicker skins. They also have natural brown spots and rough areas.

What does this have to do with a physical form?

So the disciples should not have had a problem recognizing Jesus "right" but they did, why?

What is a Spirit, does [it] have a physical shape / form and what is it made out of?

Are we madeout of the same "substance" as God and the angles?

Do you understand the word "Anthropomoric"
