What are some of favorite Power Ballads? Steve Perry/Journey is at the top of my list....:tup:

Oops...can you someone please correct my spelling on the thread topic? It should read ballads instead of ballards.

I'm glad you caught it. I wasn't gonna' say anything but look @ who would've said something first so I could say "dey ain't lookin' past the spelling to know how deep some of these ballads are (word-wise)."

That "I Want To Know What Love Is" by Foreigner is the stuff.. I'd refuse to date a female who hadn't been exposed to Foreigner for it shows that someone has been limited and not exposed to real music. (real talk) :read:

Yeah, I caught it last night, and I changed it within the thread, but I was unable to change it on the main thread title. It is really 'irking' me to see it...:lol:

Man, I love those Power Ballads! :tup: They just don't make'em like that anymore P~...:smh:

To keep it simple, they're called power ballads because most feature power chords (guitar) and powerful vocals

Power ballad' is the name given to a certain genre of song that were frequently included on Heavy Metal Music albums in the 1980s. Some of those that have posted above have posted songs by POP artist and not heavy metal or rock bands.

I was wondering what this thread was about when I kept seeing Ballards in the title...I corrected it.

I've never heard of Power Ballads, so I guess I don't have a favorite.

If you're speaking of Phil Collins/sans Genesis or Chicago w/Peter Cetera, I'm aware they might not be considered Power Ballads. But because of the heavy guitar sound, powerful vocals and slow rhythm, I included them because of that reason only. Although Chicago did soften their rock sound to create some awesome ballads...:tup:

And I just tossed Peter Gabriel's name out there because he could just sang! :nod:

And if you were not speaking about them, carry on......

You need to turn that dial off them R&B stations some time.....

I listen to my CD's 95% of the time I'm in my car...radio stations suck.

:tup: I don't blame you. :emlaugh: I've been in the D/FW metro for 19 yrs and I promise you I haven't listened to any of the local stations more than 3-4 times total from what I can recall. :emlaugh: Nothing but CDs, mp3 players, and now USB for moi. Howsinever, I do try to listen to the radio back @ the crib when I hit Madisonville because I want 91.3 to see what's what & 102.1 is a fixture because I was reared on it.

The majority of them are from the 80's, not the junk they play on the radio now. There are some current songs but you have to be frequent listener of the "other stations" to hear them. I do hear quite a few in Bally's though on their video network.
