What states and metro areas produce the most college football players? Some of the answers may surprise you.

When Oklahoma State and Ole Miss met in the Cotton Bowl Classic, coaches gushed about the perks of playing in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area — one of the most fertile recruiting hot spots in the country.

And with good reason.

One in every 20 players on NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly Division I-A) rosters last season came from the DFW Metroplex, a Tulsa World analysis shows. About one in seven FBS players came from Texas, including almost half of the Big 12.

But the Lone Star State has plenty of competition.

The World looked at every state and the 100 largest metropolitan areas in the country and how many FBS players each produced compared to its population. Per capita, Texas didn't crack the top five, while Oklahoma and Tulsa fare well.

Hawaii leads in both statistical categories so Hawaii must be the powerhouse lol producer @ the high school level. :emlaugh: :lmao: :emlaugh:

Not surprised, Louisiana has produced the most NFL athletes per capita also, people can dress it up and twist bricks all they want to but fact is fact. Louisiana is a Sportsman's Paradise.

I just looked @ something awfully, awfully funny. :emlaugh: La has a state populous of just over 4.2million. Dallas/Ft Worth, alone, has a populous of 6.3million. :emlaugh: It's amazing how #s can be twisted to make some feel good. :emlaugh:

Per capita... :lol: Hawaii.... Honolulu... #1 producing. :lol: :emlaugh:
 
It's not the size of the state it's the abundance of talent that counts. Louisiana has always had below 5 million people but it's no secret that many great athletes have come from the state but laugh all you want.:read:
 
I think I have basis to laugh because even the D/FW metropolis is referenced <b>singly</b> in the article, outside the other 4-5 large metro areas here. If one were to compare populous to populous, it still wouldn't matter because the specific region here would still win out. Now wouldn't it? :D lol

I'd go on record and say that there are more football players from 3 high schools in the D/FW area than half of La HSs on FBS squads across the nation. :| The first is: Southlake Carroll. lol Then go Cedar Hill. I need to think about the 3rd local HS. I know who... they just had 14 (? or more) sign D-I FBS LOIs last Wednesday (DISD school).

I'm sure Hawaiians are LOL'ing since they're #1 in both statistical categories. :emlaugh: :lmao: :bawling: :lol:

That means Dallas/Ft. Worth and Texas as a whole have more puzzy azz men per capita then any state.

I dunno'. I look West Texas over and I'm confused w/ anything outside of El Paso. :confused: And even El Paso is confusing because we don't hear about them too much this way, if ever w/ regards to HS sports. I don't know but 3 of the HSs there and certainly don't know the level of competitivity there.

Well prove it by producing more football players per capita, which is the real man sport. Right now, the numbers say Texas is "A BIGGER, BETTER, STRONGER PUZZY AZZ STATE".
