Just a thought!

I thought all the SWAC schools had the Eddie Rob sticker on the helmets a few years back?

Like Anonymous posted. SU had the sticker on our helmets. I was very glad we did that. I guess we aint as classless as folks try to make us. LOL.

Seriously, Coach Rob, Walter Payton, Doug Williams, Jerry Rice and Steve McNair have all done enough for the entire SWAC to honor. I would be for a #9 sticker on the helmets.

Didn't McNair beat PV 92-0? Shame on you for holding a grudge... lol

Nah.....I played at PV when Steve was at Alcorn and beleive or not Steve never really had any those 500 or 600 yard passing games against us. (None that I can remember anyway)

The last game I played against him was in 93 (Alcorn's homecoming) and I think they beat us 31-10. Steve may have thrown for 300 (but I don't think so). I want to say they ran the ball more with Harry Brown that game.

That first year we fielded a team (after the one year lay off) in 91'......Smalls and Tillman roasted us......but I still don't remember Steve throwing for no more than 300 or 400 yards.

(Just for the record......the 92-0 was Ala. State in 91') They beat everybody that year. I beleive they even won the Heritage Bowl by 30 or more points.

What year was it that a PV assistant tried to pick a fight with Cardel Jones after the PV vs Alcorn game?

What year was it that a PV assistant tried to pick a fight with Cardel Jones after the PV vs Alcorn game?

That was in 91'........Rob Jay and I were laughing about that clip at the SWAC Basketball Tournament this year.....(He was just starting at WLBT back then) He shows that clip every time PV and Alcorn play...

That was me that Cardell was talking to when coach Guillard came up cussing and trying to get to Cardell.

Cardell recruited me out of high school when he was still at Jackson State. So he knew me from high school.

wow yall mad today. :scared:

I wouldn't say that Xtacy-Hale. It's more along the lines of my nature won't allow me to entertain insipidity from black people too long before I have to speak on it. lol

I don't care what others do. I'm only concerned w/ the "individualistic" lol school and how it presents itself. lol

As a fellow PV enthusaist I feel you on how you defending DA Hill, but McNair's contributions go far beyond just Alcorn. He brought notoriety and RESPECT to our confrence as a whole. im proud so see guys like Tavaris Jackson, Bruce Eugene, Jason Hatcher, Trey Johnson (to name some recent successful SWAC guys) make our whole CONFRENCE look good.

And like I said I also feel you on defending PV cuz a lot of people on here act like the SWAC is only comprised of 3 schools (And im sure we all know who they are) and that is plain BS. I applaud your stance, but at the same time I think you picking a fight on the wrong issue bra...

<b>I don't care what others do. I'm only concerned w/ the "individualistic" lol school</b> and how it presents itself. lol

Obviously there are internet seekers for holding hands and singing kum-bah-yah which obviously won't ever..... eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeever happen from this side of the keyboard. :wavey::lecture::lol::clap:

Thought I'd quote that so it could be re-read as to what I asserted before.

Understood and it's quite individualistic, which should be applauded IMO. :|

I'd be shocked if PV followed and PV would also lose one of their own stars in the process :read:. We start our NAA meetings in a few days and I'll be speaking w/ Dr Wright personally advocating NOT. We didn't honor our own folx in the recent past so it would be ridiculously stupid, IMO, to honor someone elses.

I can reel off 8 quick names of gridiron trendsetters that PV should've wholeheartedly honored, and yes, they're my own relatives. We mightily supplied that powerhouse back in the gap and nothing was done in their behalf and everyone knows their histories.

It's mute huh? lol

What does that photo mean and what does it's mute huh mean? :noidea:

PV was fed by powerhouse historically black HSs, which were comprised of 100% faculty/coaches from PVAMU. That was the secret to PV's success during those timeframes. I know of 3 such former HSs, which were quite successful and also housed a lot of my own relatives, that fed the old guard. Look @ that one particular record: 73-2 over a 7yr stretch. Can't deny dominance and certainly cannot deny what they contributed. When they started passing, nada was done. I cannot become idle w/ the notion the school that they helped build did not honor them and yet and still allow some <b>"outsiders,"</b> in every sense of the word, pretend that it's okay for their rhetorical policy to even verbally point itself <b>our</b> way. Do note, I'm not the "official" PV speaker and am not in a decision making capacity there. I can only voice my own concerns/thoughts regarding the school and the powers that be will ulitmately make the decision.

"It's mute huh?" is my sarcastic way of saying STFU because the argument is o-fficially over. :emlaugh:

Okay cool, thanks for the clarification. BTW, the correct word is MOOT for the context you were using it.

I think the SWAC teams should honor him with a black band, the number 9 or something on the helmets or jersey. I thought they should have done the same for Walter Payton.

And how many PV players was the following:

1.35,000 yards passing 3500 rushing
2. Co NFL MVP
3. Led their team to the Greatest Superbowl ever
4. Played hurt most of his career

Can you name one? And posting a high school sign dont have squat to do with this thread.

Nah. I knew what I was doing. I chose the word "mute" because it's so impersonable and non-friendly while wreaking of "STFU nig." :emlaugh: "Moot" is friendly and placating like, IMO.

Welp, next thing you know, some of you SWAC fans will be wearing a #9 jersey, wearing a black band, or something or another. I'm not mad atcha' but don't push your rhetoric on those of us who don't see the need for it. We're not a monolitihic type of people so please stop lieing to the world and having them believe we are lol. I'd expect Alcorn St to lead the way in honoring him since he is an alum of their school. BTW, did he actually graduate Alcorn St or just attend for 3-4 yrs? :uhoh: (no smack)

I dunno'. Ask someone else who knows more about PV's history than I. Cannot see the connecto between that sign and PV, eh? :emlaugh:

*shrugs shoulders because I don't have patience* LoL

I'm off to get pancakes, yogurt, banana, and peach for breakfast.

You people are some funny folx to me. An opposing school's hero's name on a PV jersey/helmet? :emlaugh: :bawling: :emlaugh: Hella' drugs y'all smoking/smoked/consumed lol. :lol:

I never lied about African Americans being monolithic. Who is lying?

Moot is not placating, actually it has much force because it means that it is unnecessary to go forward because the issue is already settled, fact.

Why do you feel it necessary to attack us personally because you have an opposing opinion. You are dismissive and contrite in a debate. Why do we have to be drug users because we believe/feel differently than you? I don't understand that. I know you are very intelligent and can well express yourself, so why do you resort to insult and ridicule to support your opinion?

Co-Sign what SS said up there^^^^

Growing and learning how to live/do better is what life should be about. While we may not have honored our greats who have passed in the past, its time for the SWAC to act like it understands/appreciates and is willing to give due where due is warranted to our greats. We know better so now we should do better. I hope they do honor STeve

I'll play this stupid game w/ some of you people because I'm currently bored on a conf call. lol

#1, Where was an attack? =================================> :retard: Quote well. :| #2, where was an attack? =====================> :retard: #3, if I have to elaborate on what some of you imply coupled w/ my responses, you should really want to return your "degree." Now shouldn't you? :swink:

P,
I think all anyway was saying it would be nice if the SWAC schools are wore a helmet decal or something with McNair's number or name. Obviously you do not want PV to participate in that if that is the suggestion by the conference. Which is fine.

I just didn't think you had to be condescending about it. We know you think we all just go along for the okie doke and follow whatever. Need to give our degrees back and such. LOL. I think you have made that point multiple times.

Most of us just disagree with you on this particular topic. No biggie. You want PV to stay out of it and will voice your concerns to them if this comes up as a proposal from the SWAC office.

I think the SWAC and our member schools have done a poor job honoring our greats in the past. Especially those who have gained national acclaim and recognition for the conference. I thought every team should had an Eddie Rob helmet decal when he passed. The man did more for this conference in football than any other. Payton, Doug, Rice and McNair have been other trailblazing figures from the SWAC and when Walter passed, I thought we all should have done something as well. But hey I can respect your opinion on it. Some of us just disagree. That's all.

I respect everyone's thought and that's everyone's right. What I'm saying, as a graduate of PVAMU who represents my angle, I wouldn't want any <b>adversary's name/number</b> on anything that is "PV officiando." Man that's borderline bigotry or blasphemy. In fact, it's ludicrous and almost laughable. lol I hate the "look what dey did and didn't do" thing but... did UofMich wear a Woody Hayes "patch?" Did the entire Big10 do that? :emlaugh: More recent, did OhSt wear a Schembechler "patch?" :emlaugh: Emotionalism combats intelligence oft times.

I think it's safe to assume that even amongst us PVers, it's quite obvious we're not a monolithic group and I cannot speak for anyone other than the ones who are in agreeance w/ my thought process (mainly the overly proud eldering grads from what I've ascertained :swink: ). I know there are some purple/golders who would want me not to rock the boat, so to speak, while performing the kum-bah-yah thing whilst lol holding hands w/ everyone else. That's never been my makeup (individualism enhanced).
