22 looked pretty good. Around that time we had a little guard at Southern that was pretty good also.

Reminds me of Avery Johnson when he played at SU. So, where's this guy at now?

I heard he went overseas for a while and now he teaches in the Chicago school system. He is the all time assist leader at A&M.

Here's a better song for A&M basketball. :emlaugh:

when I was in school, we NEVER played A&M at home or in Huntsville. We use to play @ Fair Park in Bham. (the bball Magic City Classic :D
I can only imagine if we played A&M in the hot box, CJ Dunn on a Saturday night.:eek:

for a period of about 3 or 4 years the game was played at Fair Park... back when BET use to show HBCU basketball games on TV..... other than that the game was at Elmore or CJ Dunn. early part of this century the game was played at the VBC downtown.

i did not like those games at the VBC. but if you got to that Elmore 2 minutes late, you wasn't gettin in.

what's his name? i wanna ask the chapter about him.

number 22 and 41 were sick! nice video.

the thing about it is they were the 3rd and 4th option.... #11 Deartrus Goodman was the STAR of the team and one of the best players in AAMU history. The team also had #33 Dirk Williams (transfer from Va Tech) and big Costia Malone (#55) who was about 6'7 330 when he first got to AAMU. That was truely an all star team. From 92-96 AAMU had a won 112 games and lost 14...... and only lost 4 home games.

well there must have been years where we didnt play at all then, because I was in Montgomery for 5 years and I don't recall EVER playing A&M @ CJ Dunn.

btw, The Acadome is nice and all, but for the energy, the atmosphere, its CJ Dunn by a mile.
:D

also Craig Lottie was older when he came to AAMU. He was about 25 when he came to AAMU..... probably wouldnt have been eligible with AAMU being D1 and in the SWAC.

not sure of the years... but im for sure the games were in CJ Dunn.... I listened to all of AAMU away games on the radio... and I remember not being able to hear the game because it was too loud in CJ Dunn... also Peettaway use to always talk about the tin roof on the CJ Dunn Arena.. AAMU and ASU was also the first game at the Acadome.

:lol::lol:

man it used to get loud as L in there. My most vivid memory of it was a game against AUM (they always had real good teams over there)
Late in the game, they were up by about 7 with just a couple minutes on the clock. During a timeout, their cheerleaders ran on the floor and unfurled this big arse banner that read "AS. AS. AS. AS WHO????"
Why did they do that? :retard::retard: :lol::lol::
I have NEVER heard the ASU chant as loud as it was that night. I thought the roof was gon come off CJ Dunn. The students let 'em have it. The team was fired up, the band was fired up. Needless to say, we came back and won that game.
:D

I played on Petttway's 1st team in 86'-87'. We played at Von Braun Civic Center that year. 87'-88' was at Bama State and 88'-89 was at Birmingham Fairpark Arena on BET- I still have the tape of that game. Our records were 26-6, 29-3, 23-7.
