Congrats Tigers! 19 hits - plenty in the first two innings against the starter. We get HBU for a double-header tomorrow. Going to be ugly.

Yes its going to be ugly, they should be missing their starting catcher because he attempted to start a fight and was ejected.
I can't see how we lost any games to them - we are so much talented than them.

Unless the coach keeps him out (which is possible), I thought that ejections only lead to missing a game if it happens in a conference game, at the NCAA tournament or if the conference/athletic department gets involved.
HBU is having a rough transition with baseball and all their major team sports in fact. Their inability to win games in baseball will negatively impact the RPI of all those SLC teams and every team in the area once the NCAA includes them. Probably will end up costing the SLC an at-large because all of our TX teams have played them and plenty of others who have as well.

That's what I've been saying to myself all year with a number of teams we've played.
How can they enforce an ejection if the team played against one non conference team only to turn around and play another non conference team?

I'm pretty sure that's not the case. I've only seen it with NCAA tournament games and conference games. Can't recall an out of conference game in which a person was ejected and couldn't play the next night...

SU and jSU probably are going to be on the same side of the bracket.
Good luck to all the teams in the tournament. May the best team win, I just hope the best or swac champions have a good overall record. It doesn't look good for us at all when a school win the tournament with a 9-26 record. Look at last year with tSU. I think the tournament should go back to a four teams (2 east & 2 west). We must stop letting these 4 and 5 seed in with 6-29 records. Right now Southern will be our best rep out of the swac.

I agree. :tup: We need to stop rewarding mediocrity.
Look at it this way Jayrob. Every year we have a team or two with a great or decent overall baseball record. (ex-SU, JSU, PV) These teams with good overall records will have normally played LSU, Tulame (SU) USM, OLE PISS (JSU) & RICE/UT (PVU) and in many of these games swac teams either won or lost by one point. SU has beaten LSU, Tulane, UNO, USD before. JSU has beaten USM, UNO before & PV has whipped Rice before. When we have these great years, we should allow these teams to get to the regionals, but we beat ourselves by allowing a subpar team (8-28) into tournaments and sometimes they'll have a good day and beat our best teams. Then we're embarrassed at regionals with a bad new bears team & the 1st thing shown on t.v is that horrible 8-28 record against a @ # 1 seed. PUT YOUR BEST TEAM ON THE REGIONAL MAP FOR ALL TO SEE.

Dont count us out to early we got a big weekend and home and dont be surprised at a Valley choke plus they got abut 3 make up games so we may or may not be on the same side. Lets just see how the season plays out

The distance between JSU, Valley and SU may not be all that great. We can probably include PB in that number as well. Between the aforementioned teams, the team that's the hottest and is playing the most consistent at that time deserves to go, however I do agree with not allowing teams with dismal records like you mentioned to have a chance to make it to the SWAC tourney. That is rewarding mediocrity.

Exactly. Homefield advantage hasn't been too kind over the last couple of seasons for the home team. This year may be no different.

If the top seeds can't beat the "4 and 5 seeds with 6-29 records", that says a helluva lot bout your "top" seeds. :scared:

That was the year we were "8-26" after winning SWAC with only two teams from each side.
I'm in favor of having all teams in the conference play and tomcat said in his earlier "may the best team win."
Without qualifying for their tourny with I believe had the worst record and winning their tourny, regionals, super regionals, the lowly Fresno State Bulldogs.
I believe you give everyone a chance and if the best team record wise does not win, that's their fault for not stepping up at the right time. There's a term used in baseball "5 o'clock hitter" that means your great in the batting cage before the game but can't hit a lick when the game starts. You can't be great during the regular season then play piss poor in the tourny. In basketball Alabama St and PV held their own in the tourny.
Some of you have never played or coached in college sports and to see the excitement of the kids during the tourny banquet is something I'll never forget. Its not rewarding mediocracy in my opinion, its giving everyone a chance as other conferences do themselves.

Dude, you get your chance the regular season to show what you have. Mediocre teams with records of 8-26 shouldn't be given a second chance.
That same excitement at the banquets should first be displayed during the regular season.
If a team can't cut it then, why reward them at the possible expense of actually having your best team sitting at home while a sub .500 school represents your conference, a conference that's already behind the eight ball to begin with? It makes little to no sense at all, especially if that sub .500 school can't beat any decent out of conference schools during the regular season.
