like Mum said......we sell ourselves as blacks out in the world but you see hispanics take over an area and make the most of it, asians, etc...our hoods tend to dissappear as we rather run to spend somewhere else
Without "talent"...Summitt is an average coach..this great stuff is overrated
if the best talent jumped ship...TV jumps with them.....
to prove my point, they tell me (pictures also prove it) that whites knew the better talent was at HBCUs in the 50s and 60s....people said at Grambling you had to get to the games early as whites would take up all the seats because they wanted to see Willis Reed, etc.
so imagine if Shaq or someone is at TSU along with a two other all-stars, you don't think people will follow to see good talent?
So an 18 year old kid who chooses to attend UCLA over Jackson State is a sellout?
College sports is not that important to me where I would think like that.
I'm just happy young black men and women have the opportunity to get an education and play sports, man. There are a lot worse decisions kids can make than not going to a black school.
With that said, I think HBCUs have produced a long line of influential politicans, educators, doctors, journalists, law enforcement officials and athletes in this country.
If that kid is at a JUCO or a D2 or D3 school and getting good grades and playing ball and trying to make something of his or her self, that is all that matters.
Kids choose universities for different reasons that are beyond our control. We have to respect the decisions.
If a kid wants to get an education and play sports at an HBCU, fine. I am glad for all the young people that selected the HBCU experience. If not, then good luck to them and I wish them all the best.
All this black athletes should go to black schools angst has gotta stop. Do I wish HBCUs would be more competitve on the field? Yes, but that is not the ultimate goal of the college experience.
I think that is lost on you.
