BCS Championship

Man Barry Switzer and Jimmy Johnson are great motivators. I would've loved to have seen USC monkey stomp Florida. :) Fla may be BCS #1 but the actual champion is USC. Bar none.

I don't think OU is overrated, considering folks were saying that the Gators would dominate the Sooners on offense. The key to this game was Florida's ability to convert on third down, especially the third and longs.

How can you get on someone for making a prediction made weeks before the game was played? I am not ashamed of my statements and I won't back track. The Gators played a good game and deserved to win.

You argued up and down that OU's offense was so great and blah blah blah. I told you that they never faced a "real" defense. What happened when they faced a defense? They were held to 14 points.

In the Texas-Oklahoma game, the Sooners had the more good players, but Texas had the better team. Hence, the Longhorns won.

The only thing that may make the Sooner fans feel less miserable after this loss as oppose to the other BCS losses is that they did not get physically manhandled throughout the game. Sure, LSU only defeated them 21-14 but beat them up physically up and down the field.

If Weiss is gone I would not be surprised to see Meyer at Notre Dame. I have a hard time imaging Meyer being at Florida without Tebow.

That is what I am saying. ND is still Meyer's dream job. If Weis is fired after next season. It aint no way Meyer doesn't take that job. Just imagine if he went there and won. He would be considered one of the greatest coaches ever. ND will break the bank for him.

I expect Tebow to be back. Since the NFL aint knocking down his door as a first rounder. Aint no reason for him to leave if he is going to be a second or 3rd round pick this year. Might as well come back and see if he can improve his stock.

I agree...

You definately fit in that mode

The last 6 years he has only won 1 bowl game and that was teh Holiday Bowl. :retard:

Who else in the country can the Sooners get that would be better than Stoops. No coach in the country has made it to the BCS title game four times. Not USC, Florida, LSU, Ohio State or Texas.

Sure, OU has not done well in the BCS, but getting there that many times is hard as hell with the current system.

Neither one of those team would beat Utah.

To the members of the AP.

Please do the right thing and give Utah the AP National Championship.

What about Utah?

Utah was great but I don't think they are USC great. :) Alabama wasn't a powerhouse. lol

In every facet of the game, USC was tops IMO. And, like the rest of the top 5, they had that one slip-up (letdown) to a team they should've demolished. :)

Did I make a thread about this subject weeks ago?

So are you saying that Stoops is the best coach in the Nation?????

This is why defense wins ball games. Offense just teases the fans.

Actually Florida's offense won this game. Both defenses played well. Florida offense made more plays in the red zone than OU's did.

The SEC is wonderful at capitalizing on slow Ohio State teams and soft Oklahoma teams to win titles. This BCS madness has got to stop.

You are right..and USC lost to an unranked team when they were #1.

This was not a good post-season for the Big 12 South. Three teams lost by double digits.

Texas still gets some respect from me. Yes, Ohio State lost by double digits in two national championship games but has talent. I am not surprised that the Fiesta Bowl was close. BTW Texas was not suppose to the this good this year.

As for tonight's game and the SEC Championship, it reinforces what a lot of people believe about defense and offense. Offense sells tickets. Defense wins championships. The Florida defense was the key in both games.

11 years of the BCS
Big 12 2-4
ACC 1-2
Big 10 1-2
Big East 1-2
Pac 10 1-1
SEC 5-0

:lmao:

He's not saying he's the best but what he is saying is that he doesn't derseves to be disrespected after having his team play ball in a few BCS games. Sure 2nd place ain't good, but he has accomplished a lot at being at OU. He brought that program back up from the disaster in the 90s.

BCS Championship discussion part 2

No, he isn't saying that. He is saying what I am saying about Tressel. Who else are you going to get? Can you get Carroll from USC to Oklahoma or Saban or Meyer?

What you would have to do is take a chance on an unproven coach. Meaning looking for another Stoops when he came from Florida or Meyer coming from Utah. You will be rolling the dice in hopes that the next coach can even get you to the BCS championship.

That's why Tressel and Stoops will not be fired. Unless you can sure you can get a coach that can at least get you there then you don't roll the dice. I guess you can call a Charlie Strong or give the Tulsa coach a chance. But if those coaches end up worse than what you had......then your program will be in a shambles. Ask Nebraska. They fired Solich when they shouldn't have. They hired Callahan from the NFL and got no where and now Pellini is doing a pretty good job and I guess he will be there before Ohio State calls him home if they do fire Tressel down the line. LOL.

BTW, interesting tidbit

Bob Stoops and Urban Meyer both are ex Ohio State assistants.
