South Carolina State released its 2017 football schedule on Monday.

The Bulldogs, who suffered a disappointing 5-6 record last season, will kickoff the 2017 season on Sunday, Sept. 3 against Southern University in the annual MEAC/SWAC Challenge in Baton Rouge, La. 


S.C. State will play its home opener the following Saturday on Sept. 9 against Charleston Southern before completing its nonconference schedule on Sept. 16 at home against Johnson C. Smith.

MEAC conference play will begin for the Bulldogs on the road Sept. 23 at North Carolina Central. That contest will be followed by a two game home stand against North Carolina A&T (Sept. 30) and Morgan State (Oct. 7) before the team travels on the road to face Bethune-Cookman (Oct. 14) and Delaware State (Oct. 21).

The Bulldogs will host Howard for homecoming on Oct. 28 before completing their final two games of the regular season at home against Hampton Nov. 11 and on the road Nov. 18 at Savannah State.

  1. I am glad SC State isn’t playing any FBS schools this year. Charleston Southern will probably give the Bulldogs an L, but the game should be competitive for awhile.
