PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas -- Prairie View A&M men's basketball coach Jerry Francis will not return to the school after his team went 5-23 last season, his worst in three years at the helm of the program, according to a broadcast report.

Prairie View A&M athletic director Charles McClelland told Houston television station KRIV he accepted Francis' resignation effective Saturday.

I guess the PVU intern who reported this on Ralph's show last month knew what he was talking about. I wonder why it took so long to be official.

Got a little song for you know who...

[Speaking]
You know there are too many people trying to take care of
others peoples business and they can't even take care of their own.
What you need to do is take six months to mind your own business
and six months to leave other folks business alone. All I'm trying to say is:

[Chorus]
Sweep around your own front door before you try to sweep around mine
Sweep around your own front door before you try to sweep around mine

[Verse]
You smile in your neighbors face and talk about them behind their back
but if you found out they were doing the same thing to you, you know you
wouldn't like that. (Oh no) Who we're to judge, what other people do, take a look at yourself, and you could find some faults too.

[Chorus]

[Verse]
Your always on the telphone puttin down on someone else
You need to take a little time, stop, look in the mirror and
check your self. We all have sins that come short from gods
glory today, So we don't have time to spread her say

[Chorus]

[Verse]
Put love in your heart where there is hate, you need to clean it up
I wouldn't let it be said I waited to late, clean it up, stop going around
talking about your friends, Don't you know that that's a sin
How can you critise some one else when you are doin wrong yourself.
Be careful how you through stones, because it might break up somebody's
home

[Chorus]

:slap:

I ain't mad @ the smack. Let it ensue. "L", we deserve the slap in the face behind this mess. :( Some of us are not happy w/ the decision.

If SU has someone of Jerry's character/intensity, they'd dominate the SWAC and ncaa bball for eons. He's a good guy.

What's Grant's phone # one mo' gin? :D lol

DAYUM!! I'm sure gonna miss seeing him around! Always looked forward to The Jerome Francis Show....

bad time to be from the state of Ohio......but I still Xs and Os he was heads and shoulders above the rest but running a program is more about that...

expect another SWAC firing soon

Francis resigns from PV

After three years on the job, Jerome Francis Jr., has resigned as men's basketball coach at Prairie View A&M.

Athletic director Charles McClelland on Friday confirmed receipt of Francis' resignation. McClelland said the parting was amicable.

"We just felt that it would be best, based upon our conversations about where we were and where we wanted to go," McClelland said.

Formerly an assistant coach under Ray McCallum at Houston, Francis compiled a 30-54 record at Prairie View.

In his first season (2002-03), Francis led the Panthers to their first Southwestern Athletic Conference basketball championship in more than 40 years and a win in the first round of the conference tournament. He was honored as the 2003 SWAC coach of the year.

McClelland said Francis' exit was not a complete surprise, but that it places the program at a disadvantage.

"I think the biggest issue that were going to have to deal with is the lateness of his resignation," McClelland said. "We are already in May. Signing day has already passed. We hadn't signed any recruits because we were unsure of what our status was."

McClelland will meet with the PV athletic board early next week to discuss their next move.
