NFL DRAFT

Seven (7) picks left. Houston and New Orleans included. I would say these are Bruce Eugene's best shots. Still..... No Marcus Vick taken.

Mr. SWAC said:
Now you know that's not true. Didn't T. Jackson and Jason Hatcher go in the 2nd and 3rd rounds, respectively? And Minnesota traded up a lot to pick Jackson in the 2nd round. Bruce will land somewhere.

he actually didnt mean none... but very few.... I noticed the same thing.... I would say 98% of this draft is D1A players.

Name the D1AA players who legitimately got "shut out" of the draft? I can't name any, because I guess I'm just not that familiar w/who they are. There were more D1AA players drafted than you think. I don't think that statement is true one bit. His example was of V Tech players who got drafted, but not included in that list of VT players is Marcus Vick. It ain't got nothing to do with the NFL purposely not drafting D1AA players this year. What was just proved is that if you are a liability your stock will fall. Did some people get overlooked? Yes, but trust... like I said, these players we will all be hearing about signing free agent deals. Probably like in the next hour.

Well this is really a far cry from #10 in the first round and a disappointing showing for a heisman candidate.

The NFL has made a concerted effort not to Draft players from outside of div.1-A. Look at the schools and where these players came from, good example VaTech had 7 players drafted not all were even starters.:vomit:

This is not true, the league picks talent, and evaluating talent has alot to do with the caliber of opponent that you play each week. And being honest, most of the talent, especially when you go away from WR and Corners.....is in the big conferences.

And of all the Tech players drafted...which one was not a starter? Of all the names I saw, all were starters.

OL and DL is where the biggest differences in talent are....and most teams will want to build on the lines first unless they have a big need at QB.

So is the draft over ?? What round did he go ???
See i never watch the nfl draft...

It is a shame that Eugene did not get drafted. Scoring a 41 on the Wonderlink Test and has talent to make all of the throws that the NFL require an NFL QB to make. It is awful that Eugene has to make the NFL through the Free Agent route. :shame:

Props to T. Jackson and Hatcher. Hatcher damn sho better bring it. Not every man gets a chance to wear that STAR. So hatch, get yourself fitted for the steel horse, baby. That's what we ride. And we're wanted, DEAD OR ALIVE!!!

Go get'em TJ... I just cant stand that espn radio keep saying ARKANSAS transfer, they even interviewed Matt Jones about Jackson. I know he will always mention bama state in every interview that he does himself though.:topic: The swac better get some pro set offenses real quick if we eveer want these player to get a chance on the next level.

What is wrong with saying Arkansas transfer...I mean that's what he was. They do it with all transfer players when go to 1-AA schools. They kept mentioning that the guy from FL that transferred(Ingle Martin?) was a UF product.

I just don't see the issue....

Well round five and six are gone. Looks like if bruce is going to make it it'll be the last pick, probably one spot behind the crackhead. A far cry from #10 in the first round as the experts predicted.

Wow. Figured Bruce and Darryl Hackney(UAB), being in the mold of a Byron Leftwitch, would have gone at least in the 3rd or 4th round. will see what happens as undrafted free agents.

No issue I just would like to see Bama State get their props for producing a good quarterback. Interview his coach to get insight on him.

Maybe if Bruce shedded some of that weight it could have helped him. Playing Concordia college certainly didn't help his stock while trying to pile on statistics. Then again, the NFL was probably scared of all those touchdowns Bruce produced. You know that the NFL has to maintain some of their own stats for history sake.

Just finished listening to WWL of the Saints draft status, and the Saints have signed Bruce Eugene.

Lead us home Bruce!

We all know what happens to home town QB's in the Saints camp. Well atleast he still gets to eat good.

We all know about Southern University QBs too, that is, they are not LEAGUE material.

So what SU QB that was suppose to be picked in the top ten of the first round and didn't get drafted are you referring to?

True...but Bruce will be alright. I think that the weight issue carried (no pun intended) a lot of weight with the NFL personnel. I commend him for losing the weight, but If I was a NFL scout and being objective (removing my love for Grambling and HBCU players) I would be reluctant to recommend him for fear that the weight loss is temporary.

This "snub" might be a blessing in disquise... but dayum New Orleans. I hope the homecooking and restaurants don't be to much of a temptation. Go Bruce...I'm rooting for ya Bruh!

I don't think the Concordia game hurt him...I think the weight issue did. They couldn't question level of competition because TJ played the same teams... Hoping all the guys do well in the NFL camps and make the rosters.

This is for all of you dummys that says the SWAC/HBCU's has no talent or can't compete with the other teams in I-aa. These are the I-aa players that has been drafted since 2000 in the first 3 rounds.

The Grambling QB will be alright. In fact, he may not WANT to make an NFL team this year because he just won't get a chance to play. He MAY BE better off in Arena, Arena II, the CFL et al.
