Morehouse College to host baseball symposium

July 12, 2005

RICHMOND, Va. ? Hank Aaron, Major League Baseball?s homerun king, heads up a panel to discuss how Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) can stem the decline of African-American participation in our national pastime.

The Second Annual Bobby Bonds Memorial Symposium on the Survival of Historically Black Colleges and Universities Baseball Programs will outline how HBCUs should be the focal point to rekindle African-American interest in the sport and address the educational and social ills that plague our at-risk youth.

Along with Hank Aaron, Roger Cador, head baseball coach at Southern University, will appear on the panel again this year. Cador?s Southern Jaguars traditionally fields one of the best teams in all of black college baseball.
