Looks like there will be another college playing football in Montgomery as Faulkner University takes the dive into college football:

Huntingdon is already well into their college football venture, so Montgomery will now have 3 college football teams. Where is Faulkner going to play, Crampton Bowl??? I assuming Alabama State will have a say in that plan. They mentioned something about an on-campus stadium eventually though.

And what's with Birmingham Southern going from Div I to Div III??! rhetorical. that is horrible.

ASU should not care as long as the city provides its dates and I don?t see any problems with crampton bowl handling multiple tenants, especially since they installed the artificial turf. With more tenants, they will have more revenue to continue to make improvements the facility which they started two years ago.

I see this as a good thing, congrats to Faulkner!!!

AUM should be afraid, very afraid for their sports programs. Those two schools are rivalries in hoops and others sports. It will be interesting to see how AUM responds.

I doubt if Faulkner will play in Crampton Bowl for long due to the "Legion Field" syndrone that their fan base will almost immediately espouse. In the short term maybe they will and the stadium will see additional improvements.

yeah AUM finds themselves in an interesting position. Them in Montgomery remind me of Birmingham in the southeast. At one time the only metros that had major league pro sports was Atlanta, Tampa, Miami and N.O. Now add to that list Orlando, Jacksonville, Charlotte, Nashville, RDU and Memphis. Kinda leaves Birmingham in a bit of a pickle because the markets are saturated just like AUM in Montgomery, but I heard on Sportsline that AUM will absolutely not start a football program because Auburn won't allow that (somebody on here said that too). We'll see. In the mean time I would like to see Tuskegee play them a few times as they pass us by in 10-20 years and move to Div I-AA while we still lamp at Div II-A. :shame:
