Just in time for an early holiday present, Microsoft is treating us to their Fall Dashboard Update which will be available for all LIVE enabled Xbox 360 consoles beginning on December 4th. You can check out the official press release for all the formal details from Microsoft, but we?ve also given the new dashboard update a thorough inspection to bring you our impressions of the new features and enhancements. Read on and learn what you can expect to experience early next week once the update is made accessible to the more than 8 million Xbox LIVE members worldwide.

The Fall Dashboard Update is very quick and easy to install. Upon turning on the Xbox 360, a Xbox LIVE notification blade will open up announcing the availability of the update. After the update is downloaded and the console reboots, you?ll be up to date with the latest features added by Microsoft. When we installed the update earlier this week, the whole process took less than a few minutes, so it was much like many of the game updates and patches that have been sent out through Xbox LIVE in the past.

The first thing we noticed as soon as our newly updated console booted up was the Inside Xbox addition to the Xbox LIVE blade. Here you?ll see the latest bits of news straight from Xbox.com including game updates, events and much more. Think of this section as a sort of RSS feed that keeps you connected to whatever hot topic is floating around the world of Xbox 360. Based on what we?ve seen so far, it appears as though we can expect a good deal of content from Major Nelson and hopefully other community related outlets.
