Updates on the Pacers-Pistons Melee

That's Dr. JN99 to you...
The Oakland County Prosecutor's Office and Auburn Hills Police Department just held a press conference. They announced that after all the tapes are reviewed and participants are identified, all of the participants with the exception of the person who threw the chair will be charged with misdemeanor assault and battery. The person who threw the chair, whom has yet to be identified, will be charged with felony assault and battery. As of this point, there are no camera angles showing who threw the chair so they are hoping that people come forward to identify that person. The prosecutor said that this is due to the lack of major injuries sustained during the brawl. The person who threw the cup at Artest has been identified as John Green of West Bloomfield, MI. He was identified coincidentally by the sheriff of Oakland County, they were former neighbors. Although a riot ensured, he can not be charged with starting a riot under Michigan law, the state law requires that five or more people are involved in the events that spark a riot situation. The Auburn Hills Police Department is also looking to ban the sell of alcohol at The Palace.

Glad to hear this...

My co-worker just told me, that CNN is all over this one.

ESPN interviewed Green and he doesn't admit to throwing the cup. He indicated that everything happened so fast, the situation just escalated.

The clip ESPN showed does look like he was the one who threw the cup. Artest passes right by him and heads for the guy in the black shirt. Green then comes up from behind and looks like he is trying to pull Artest off of the guy in black but he really starts to hit Artest.

Green is a season ticket holder for the Pistons who will lose his tickets. He also has a history of arrests (including a few DWIs).
