Rest in peace Alvin Allen aka Lewis aka DJ Al

Today I lost one of the best friends that I've ever had. When I was in college over 30 years, he was one of my professors. He wasn't the typical professor. He was like a big brother. He was one of us. I owe a lot of my career success to him. We kept in touch over the years. We would later on become coworkers when I went back to Southern University for a job. When I decided to leave that job, he was the first person that I told. We tailgated together and traveled together to football games.

When my father passed away in 2018, we were short a few pall bearers at the burial. I turn around and Al was just there, out of nowhere. The last time I was in Baton Rouge, I went to visit him in the nursing home, but he was sleeping. It was a surreal experience.

This one hurts, and it's gonna hurt for a long time. Rest in paradise Al Allen (DJ Al). You will be missed by many.
