Proxy Surfing

I wonder are any of you familiar with proxy surfing. Im thinking of setting my home pc up as a server so to speak so i can connect to it via web browser from my pc at work.

Any of you ever played around with this?

My company has had us going thru a proxy for surfing for years now. Wouldn't you have to setup some type of VPN connection to connect to your PC at home. If not, then everyone could surf on your dime.

yep im going to set up a vpn. i dont want anyone tapping into my bandwith but me!

what software does your company use?

Cisco Systems VPN software. As for proxy, all I know is we place a proxy setting in the browser along with a port number.
