I know that Mel Farr was not from an HBCU he played for UCLA before being drafted by the lions, but Mel Farr was a great supporter of HBCU's and he died last night so I just wanted to send up a prayer for his soul and to his family.,

May the Lord bless and keep him!

Former Lions star Mel Farr owned several car dealerships following his NFL career.
It's been a tough few weeks in Motown for the Detroit Lions family. Mel Farr, a running back for the Lions from 1967-73, and a popular figure in the city for years, died suddenly on Monday. Farr was 70. His death comes just a few weeks following the passing of Lions' Hall of Famer, Charlie Sanders, who passed away on July 2, following a long bout with cancer.
Farr was one of the earliest NFL players to parlay
