Heavenly Father,
We come before you, thanking You for your grace and your mercy. Father, we thank You, because it is only by Your grace that we are here, and we thank You for Your love and kindness and for Your forgiveness.
We’ve reached another athletic season, Father, and we thank You for allowing us to reach this point. We ask that You please bless each and every athlete who will compete this season. Father, please keep Your steady hand of protection over them. We pray the Blood of Jesus Christ over them as they practice, compete, and travel. Bless their efforts on the field and in the classroom. Thank You for the health and strength You’ve given them to perform, and Father, while we pray that no injuries harm them, we know that You are a healer should it happen. Lord, please bless those athletes who are recovering from past injuries; continue to touch and heal their bodies. Bless those who have to sit out to care for parents; Lord please comfort them, and let them know that a delay is not a denial. Please bless each family they represent, and thank You for their love and support. Bless our coaches and trainers; bless our bands and dance troupes. Let all these young people do reflect You and Your glory. Father, we pray Your traveling grace on all who will travel and support, and Lord we pray that You bless each school/university that is represented. We pray for a Spirit of friendly competition and comradery. And Father, please bless the officials; let them officiate with fairness and truth. Please give them a Spirit of honesty so that our athletes’ hard work, practice, and efforts won’t be in vain or discourage them.
We thank You for keeping our Jackson State and Mississippi Valley brethren who have started their season, and we thank You for their safe travel and return. We thank You, again, and ask this prayer in the name of Jesus Christ.
