You might wanna be careful about those programs like KaZaa and LimeWire and others, because they put adware and spy software on your computer. What that means is they have access to your computer and know what you're doing on it. It's WAY more intrusive than cookies and such. Also, there are some programs that will overlay links to send you to their advertisers and mess with your browser in other ways. It's TOO MUCH :redhot:
Try KaZaa Lite (http://www.kazaalite.tk/). They allow you to get KaZaa without all the intrusive adware and other software.
Also, GET A FIREWALL!!! Especially when you're online all the time, it's easier for hackers to find you. And they are tracking the little person these days as much or moreso than big company & government computers. I suggest ZoneAlarm (http://www.zonealarm.com/) because they have a FREE version that works very well. Stay safe and enjoy :tup:

I use Norton Internet Security, and it works fine for me. It keeps the hackers out, and does regular updates from the Symantec site. Also checks for viruses on your hard drive, as well.
Do this SOON.
I had someone try to hack my machine once (don't know where I was surfing), and the software detected it. He didn't get anything, but he tried. My boss had his computer hacked, and they changed his screen saver and modified a number of documents on his computer.
Don't want to alarm you, just let you know the pitfalls of having a cable modem.

Yeah you might want to get a firewall and better anti-virus software if you're going to do a lot of downloading. NOt just Kaaza, all those downloading sites are good for virus. You will get at least 2 or 3 before you're doing. That why it best to just avoid them as much as possible.
