North Carolina GOP is at it again with Redistricting in District 1

This has been going on for over 20 years, as the GOP keeps trying to find a winning formula to try to win District 1. Their illegal gerrymandering needs to stop, but it seems like the state Democrat Party are not willing to go around the Legislature and put up a constitutional amendment to take away the ability from the legislature to control redistricting.

While it is not illegal to gerrymander by political party, which it should be illegal, the problem is that Black population of the state are majority part of the democrat parties (thus gerrymandering by political party ends up being gerrymandering based on race).

The Supreme Court is the problem. That 2019 Rucho vs. Common Cause ruling gutted voting rights protections.

The only solutions I see are to pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Act or for black turnout to significantly increase.

The problem in North Carolina is that this have been going on for awhile and the GOP does not care about the law at this point.

We have seen the state supreme court and USA supreme court rule against them. One of their own self deleted himself in order not have to go to court for voter fraud, lucky his daughter found the records and turn them over to the right people. We had one election in the western part of the state that had to be re-run due to voter fraud coming from people associated with the republicans. We had one republican saying that they would not being doing the gerrymandering if more black people voted republican in public. The list goes on.

More black turnout equals changing the district again for the next election. It has gotten to the point that Don Davis got so desperate to win his last campaign that he ran ads calling the republican candidate a carpetbagger. This latest district map is even worst and Dems have no way to block it.
