Monthly Empowerment (ME) for February 2021

"Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; fore-bearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any. Even as Christ forgave you, also do ye"
-Colossians 3:12-13

We've all had disagreements and arguments with family, friends, co-workers, even our Christian brothers and sisters. Sometimes these disagreements can get so intense, it leads to rudeness and anger. Emotions and irrational behavior override reasoning and logic, and before you know, someone has just said something totally ignorant, rude, or crazy to you. Worse, we as Christians and Believers get hot-headed, fueled up, and retaliate with curse words or bad behavior. Quarrels, arguments, disagreements happen, but no matter how bad or intense things get, we must forgive those who speak malice to us, and better still, seek forgiveness from those when we inflict it.

Colossians 3, verse 13 reminds us that we have been forgiven by our Lord Jesus Christ. So it is our responsibility and duty to forgive others and seek forgiveness from others. When people speak rudely, respond with kindness and compassion. It may be hard to do, especially when it happens so much, but we must do it. Offering kind words and compassionate comments to others frees us to enjoy God's gift of mercy. We are able to truly enjoy the benefits of God's grace and mercy in our lives when we forgive. This is one reason why Paul instructed us to "not be weary in well-doing, for in due season we will reap, if we faint not" (Galatians 6:9). When we forgive, we remain at peace with God and ourselves, and are in a position to learn how to do well in our living a life that reflects God and His glory.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you, keep you, and sustain you!
