Yet. I suspect it will take a player or a close family member getting placed in the hospital or dying for the cancellation of the season.

A minor league player already died of COVID during the offseason. He played in the Oakland farm system. It was a woefully under-reported story.

But once a league starts, it's hard to shut down. There is just too much pressure to keep playing. The NBA and NHL -- no matter how many positive tests they have -- will play until they're met with a widespread outbreak.

The KBO said before its season in Korea started that one positive test (player, manager, staff) would shut down the league for three weeks. MLB has had more than a dozen four days until its start. And they're playing.

The death of a player or close family member due to coronavirus will cancel the season. There is no minor league baseball this season.

Baseball and basically a 60 man roster right now. They are definitely going to keep playing. The Optics may be bad but they're going to push forward. The problem is these guys are free to go wherever they want and do whatever they want and bring back whatever they bring. There needs to be some control on their activity outside of the game

We're all at the mercy of the virus right now. Unless you lock down players in a bubble and control their movements 24/7 like the NBA has done, there is going to be a significant risk of exposure and infection. And even then there is no guarantee there won't be infections.

They got what they voted for.

MLB commissioner warns of shutdown if coronavirus isn't better managed
Rich dummy how are you going to manage something when the players are traveling from Covid infected city to Covid infected city.. Shut it down!! These are some stupid people..

It appears that the NBA has the right idea on how to conduct games. Unfortunately, it looks like other pro leagues don't have the inclination to operate in that manner. Most leagues below the P5 (colleges and below) simply don't have the resources to create a bubble.
