Believe it or not. There is a lot of discrimination in Latin America. It may not be overt like it is in the U.S. But it exists, and there is a legacy of slavery. Columbia has had its problems. Anyway, I saw a picture of the sister, she’s looks nice. BTW this came out of the Houston Chronicle.

Miss Colombia breaks barrier
BOGOTÃÃ, Colombia -- Vanessa Alexandra Mendoza has broken a color barrier in Colombia, becoming the first black woman to win the Miss Colombia title during one of the country's most-watched spectacles.
Four in 10 Colombians are either black or of mixed race, yet they are underrepresented in politics and discriminated against.
Mendoza played down the race issue.
"I'm happy because all of Colombia supported me, not just because of my color," she said. "Yes, this time they gave the opportunity to a black woman, but not because of my color."
