I read the article, I'd like to add I think a back lash to a "Strong racial identity" also comes into play when you're a non-white person and you know your self worth, when it comes to salary negotiations
Certain "people" don't like being told why you deserve to be making a certain amount of money, but let it be a non-white person and they have no issues with that type of assertiveness.
